aight, we're gonna talk about how good of a game dbh is.

a short explanation of the game is that you play as three different androids in the year 2038 in detroit where androids are prominent in society. androids start going against their programming leading to a bunch of events where the three main characters lives start to cross roads and they have to internally deal with their own software instability (aka them feeling human emotions).

my little description doesn't give the game enough justice though. the visuals are amazing. the world just looks so nice and detailed. the story is so, so detailed and immersive. i've been told that replay value is an important thing for games, and dbh is most definitely a game with high replay value cuz it leaves the potential for the story to go so many different ways. it's a true interactive story. all decisions matter.

in addition, the soundtrack is amazing. 10/10, muy good.

the character interactions, dialogue, and character development is just so– ahh! what a phenomenal game.

not to mention the potential for wholesome interactions and relationships (kara, alice, and luther; connor and hank; markus and carl). it's a nice contrast to the mature themes in the game. both make the game enjoyable.

i played the game all in one sitting. i was so determined to play it whole. it's a game i find hard to put down cuz it's just too good?? i wouldn't be able to rest without finishing it.

the first time i played through, i killed kara and connor in the last section. it's gonna get a bit spoil-y here, so just skip this part if you don't want to read:

i first killed connor when he got off of the elevator at cyberlife. i stood in front of three armed guys that all had a button in front of them. i thought it was a situation where i had to choose which guy to go after, but i actually had to press all three buttons to go after all guards. connor got shot, and i was devastated. he wasn't gonna come back that time.

lamow, i thought i was like, the only person to make that mistake, but after talking about it with richie, i figured out he did the same thing.

then, at the very end of kara's gameplay (was literally this 👌 close to the end), i actually willingly had her die. alice froze to death in kara's arms (after luther got shot on the boat). i chose for kara to die with alice. i saw kara as being very loyal and motherly, so i was okay with having kara die with alice. very fitting in my eyes but also very sad.

i think at that point i knew definitely that i was gonna restart that section of the game (although i would've been playing for another 2-3 hours, but it was totally worth it).

markus still succeeded though, i think?

anyway, i did replay it to get the happy ending i wanted for all of them. it was so fucking worth it just seeing them all okay and getting satisfying endings.

the original endings i got for connor and kara got me in the feels.

the first scene that hit me really hit me. it was when connor saw the memories of simon? i think? and you could just see the fear in connor's eyes. he was genuinely afraid which was such good character development, but oh my FUCK was that sad.

it didn't help that the scene was labeled "connor was traumatized". the poor fella.

another one i remember is at the very end of the credits. since i had a good relationship with hank at the end, i got to see the very sweet scene of connor and hank hugging which made my heart go big uwu.

agh, i'm trying not to make these chapters long. sorry.

some last things though: it's the only game i've ever truly wanted to replay AND would give 5 stars. it's an absolute masterpiece in my eyes.

ALSO! uhhh wait what was i gonna say? OH YEAH! i said it in a previous chapter, but the game is only $20?? i would pay $60 just to play it again wtf??
