Addicted and Afflicted

A selfish greed,
a man-made affliction,
a dire need,
to feed my addiction,

I'm stuck in my head,
Each and every day,
Yearning for more,
In each and every way

I've been shattered to pieces,
Like glass on the ground,
I'm just another lost soul,
Blindly wondering around

I've got this itch I have to scratch,
It refuses to go away,
So I concede to it's call,
Every single day

Enough is never enough,
The more I get the more I need,
An appetite for destruction,
it wants to see me bleed

The drug feels real,
it feels alive,
It's consumed my ambition,
I no longer strive,

To it I've lost my life,
It has possession of my soul,
I sold it for cheap,
I only got paid a bowl

My family's been forgotten,
Their memories fade,
Left broken hearted,
I lay in the bed which I've made

But the drugs like a secret,
That you keep and quietly save,
In which its only intention,
Is to see you to your grave
