Nia turned the wheel into the driveway and turned down the pop music with her fingers laced with simple gold jewellery to stop the song which was flowing with the wind out of the window. Timmy squealed along with the sound of the engine turning off and heaved the door open and started skipping towards the door. I dropped my feet onto the pavement and dragged my bag off the seat and shut the heavy grey door and started searching through my pockets for the key to open the door.

"What have you got to eat today then guys?" Nia said as she started shuffling through the freezer once we got through the door. This was the first night where Dad was working late so he invited Nia around to cook us food and keep us company for awhile.
Timmy was sat surrounded by the dump of colouring pens he made on the island watching Nia pick through various bags of frozen items. I crashed on the sofa and kicked off my shoes groaning into the heat radiating off my slightly reddening shoulders from the time I wasn't wearing a jacket at lunch.

The room around me stilled itself with humidity and the drone of distant aircrafts and flies buzzing around in the air hummed along to the calm ethos of the room. I closed my eyes and let the gust of salty wind settle over my curled body. I sighed to fall deeper into the soft sofa and let the tension from my shoulders slump into the cushions.

"Bethan are you okay if we do grilled chicken for dinner tonight?" Nia asked holding up a plastic wrapped chicken above Timmy's head. Timmy nodded exaggerated as she asked the question.

Sitting up so my peek over the sofa gave me a better view, I nodded, agreeing that I was sure anything she cooked would taste fabulous. "Are you feeling alright? You look a little down." She says resting the chicken back on the table and walking towards me slightly.

"I'm okay, too much sun and a long day that's all." My voice filled the room with a much different sound as the display of difference in our pronunciation was clear.

"Okay sweetheart, you feel free to nap while we cook if you need to." I smiled sweetly at her as she began to start food prep for our dinner.

Taking up on her offer I decided to go upstairs and close my eyes in distraction from the tiredness that was looming over me.   I fell awkwardly onto my bed and landing with pillows poking me in uncomfortable positions. Listening to the cars drive past as the sound crept in through the gaps in the window I shut my eyes and attempted to drift off to sleep.

However, as I reminisced through the day as I usual would before sleeping the thought suddenly dawned on me that Milly's birthday was in two days and I hadn't got her anything. Ideally  I would just ask Dad to take me to a shopping centre to pick something but with him working late again the next day too, there was only one way to do it.

I grabbed my laptop and skipped down the stairs to sit on the island opposite Timmy, who was colouring in a dinosaur. I stated clicking away at the keyboard typing vaguely into the search engine to look for something to buy for the twins. After gauging a rough conversation idea after looking at the rates on my phone, it was much easier to begin shopping and not being ripped off completely.

After finally managing to find a site with next day delivery and enough of a range in products to buy both items from the same store I was almost ready to face the checkout process. I picked out a few sporty bits to put in a small duffle bag for Mitchell and after a bit of investigation and research from the reliable source of Gracie, I found out Milly's shoe size. I picked out a pair of pink slippers with an olive coloured ribbon sewn into a bow on the toe, they came with a matching dust bag and sleep mask so I decided that it would fit Milly's room style nicely.

"What you buying?" Nia asked over my shoulder looking into my cart where I was about to check out.

"It's the birthday of some twins at school on Wednesday so I have to buy it today for everything to arrive in time." I shrugged scrolling down the page so she could have a better look at my picks.

Beginning the process of checking out I typed out all the billing information from memory of the many times I used Dad's card for my very important midnight shopping sprees back home.

Making sure to click the express shipping option It then became the task to fill out the address. "What is a zip code?" I asked Nos who was mashing some potato.

"Oh it's like the area number I guess. Round here you'll be 90264." I nodded and typed in the code and began to twirl the bar stool around to read the address Dad had put up with a magnet on the fridge. This was alongside his new phone number and the number for the hospital he worked in.

By squinting my eyes slightly, I was able to type the address into the box without having to get up and grab it to read. I clapped my hands and exclaimed, "yay!" As the confirmation of order receipt popped up on the screen where a happy cartoon man stood next to a van, smiling at me.

"Look Nia, it's my dinosaur!" Timmy shouted, turning his book of colourings around. "He's called Dragon."

I furrowed my brows at the declaration of the  name but smiled as the attempt of writing the dinosaur's odd name wasn't completely spelt wrong or illegible. "Very nice." Nia commented as she released the steam from the oven in an attempt of getting the chicken out.

"Okay guys, colours and technologies out of the way. Grubs up."
