"I have something to tell you," basag ko sa payapang katahimikan sa pagitan namin.
"Hmm?" He shifted his gaze to me.
"You can stop now," I said, almost a whisper.
"What?" His brows furrowed, probably confused with what I said.
"You can stop courting me na, this is not my thing. Let's just... let's just stay like this, as each other's friend, gano'n." I looked at him straight in the eye, shrugging off the heavy feeling in my chest.
He looks confused at first, pero bigla siyang ngumisi at umiling.
"But having you as my friend is also not my thing." He gave me a half-shrug, dismissing the topic that I brought up.
He gave me an assuring smile before he spoke again, "Take your time, there's no one pressuring you naman. I'll wait... really."
"What's going on in that pretty head of yours?"
"Ha?" maang na tanong ko sabay lingon sa gawi niya. I tried blinking my eyes to push that memory to the back of my head.
"Wala, may naalala lang." Nginitian ko siya at isinensyas ang pedestrian lane para makatawid na kami.
He held me by my elbow and guided me as we cross the road. We soon halted just right in front of BU's gate with us eyeing each other. I gave him a curious side-eye because he's looking at me like I'm a piece of puzzle that is too complicated even for him to put together.
I raised a brow. "My bag, please." Nguso ko sa bag kong hawak niya.
He sighed then took my bag off of his shoulder. "Here..."
I looked up to him as he fix the strap of my bag on my shoulder, he even fixed my hair for me. I stifled my giggle because an image of us looking like a father-and-daughter duo in a kindergarten yard made its way to my mind.
"You should go, you'll be late," I managed to say calmly, shooing him away.
He smiled then pinched the tip of my nose lightly. "Stop pouting." He chuckled.
I shoved his hand away as I glared at him.
He just laughed at my reaction then patted my head. "See you later." He waved his hand while walking backward, away from me.
"Amyrtelle? Hoy! Kanina ka pa tulala, ayos ka lang ba?"
I snapped back to reality when Liarra snapped in front of my face. "Ha? I'm ok, kumain ka na," tumatango-tangong sabi ko.
