Two days later, Ash had woken up to the sound of gunfire. She jolted up and looked around, even though she could not make out the figures. Her hand clasped around her locket in her pocket. She held it tightly as the gunfire subsided.

Her group never came back for her. It's been two days since they went to the prison and they haven't returned for her. Either they are dead, or they forgot about her. And that nearly broke her, hoping that they didn't forget.

She didn't know which she could live with. Rick dying or forgetting about her and leaving her to die. She supposed she'd have to settle with not knowing the answer...or deciding it for them.

At first, she thought it was Rick and the rest of the group coming back for her, and happiness swelled inside of her like a hot air balloon, but then she realized they wouldn't use guns to take out a few Walkers. This was a different group. The balloon popped and fear filled her entire being as she waited for them to notice her inside.

"Hey! We got a live one!" A familiar male voice shouted as the door next to her opened. She heard more footsteps circle around the car.

"Miss? Can you hear me?" A male voice asked and her head turn towards it automatically.

"Yes." She answers hesitantly in a dry voice due to dehydration. She managed to find the water that they left for her and the bag of chips but they were both gone. She thought they would have been back sooner.

"Are you with a group?" The same voices asks.

She shakes her head. "No. They're all dead." How could she tell them they were alive? She didn't know who these people were and she sure couldn't trust them.

It's silent for a moment. "Can you see me?" He asks.

Ash slowly shakes her head. "No."

"How did you survive this long?" A new males voice asked.

"My group...they helped me...but now they're gone." She said sadly, suddenly believing her own words. They're dead. And they're not coming back.

"How long have you been stuck here?" The other male voice asked.

"I...don't know. A couple days." She said sadly.

"What's your name?" He asks.

"Ashley."

"Nice to meet you, Ashley. I'm the Governor." The Governor said.

She gave a confused expression. "The Governor of what?"

He chuckled. "Of a safe haven called Woodbury."

"There is no safe haven. Everywhere is just dead." She said matter of factly.

He chuckled again. "Martinez, help this young lady to my car." The Governor said, causing Ash to stiffen.

"Wait, what? You're taking me with you?" She asks in horror.

"Of course. I can't just leave you in there. It's scorching hot out here. You must be dehydrated at the least.

"Here." The third voice said, the man Martinez, as he grabbed her wrist, waiting for her to climb out of the car.

"I can't walk." She said suddenly, realizing what he was waiting for.

"Why not? Did you hurt your ankle?" The Governor asked.

"No. I had this disease. Uh...Clostridium Botulinum. The side effects were blindness and paralysis. I got the vaccine for it but the effects were permanent." She said.
