Tyler practically crashed down on his couch, backpack abandoned somewhere halfway between the door and where he was now. He looked around his apartment, suddenly so aware of how... horrible it was.
There was no warmth, there was no atmosphere, there was no heart to it. It was an old lifeless place, which had always been enough. It may have represented him even. It was who he was. Worthless, crumbling, uninterested, abandoned and forgotten.
He sighed, observing how the ceiling wasn't white anymore, awfully stained. The old man who lived there smoked like a chimney and Tyler never had the money or motivation to make this place any better than it was.
It was clear that the old wallpaper nearly fell off, corners ripped and hanging from the wall. The color too, which once was probably a calm greenish color was now almost a dirty yellow or green. It just showed how he had given up already even before trying.
The curtains were ugly and thick, probably dirty too. And generally always closed, he wasn't even going to check how dirty the window and sill behind them was. It was a sad place. It had been his safe place when he got here, but also a place where he had shut off his mind and stopped living, all he did was survive a day. And then another day. And another one.
With a sigh he pushed himself off the couch, grabbing his backpack with clothes he had brought to Josh and Brendon and heading to the bathroom. The old, eerie green bathroom that had mold in random places, a bathtub he had never even touched after.. that.
He shoved his clothes into the washing machine, grabbing a bottle of fresh smelling laundry detergent and shoving some of the substance in too.The bag he threw in a corner, that was a problem for later. Maybe he would put it away once the washing machine was done. Maybe. He sauntered to the kitchen, slightly hungry and he opened the fridge. He couldn't hide his disappointment by seeing the content of it, cursing himself for actually forgetting he never really had any nice food around. The slices of cheese grew green, and with a groan he threw them in the trash, as well as the opened milk container.
He usually ate pizza or pasta when he worked delivering pizzas, and never really ate anything else much besides a slice of bread with cheese or peanut-butter. Obviously he checked the cupboard after, a few last pieces of bread having the same color of the cheese slices he had found.Okay. No food, that was fine. He would just wait for the washing machine and then get to bed early. He made his way back to the couch, absentmindedly turning on the tv for some background noise. He didn't really watch, instead he noticed the empty shelves and walls, realizing how there was no atmosphere and no personality here. Not a single picture, not a feeling of home anywhere to be found.
For a second the tv got his attention, hearing some random people talk and laugh. It pulled at his heart. His apartment was silent, deadly silent. He pulled up his knees, as close to his chest as possible, making himself practically invisible in the corner of his old beaten up couch.
He wasn't sure how to feel. It had always been crappy here, but it had been his crappy place. He liked being there, or well... Sort of. It felt calm, being away from people in his own little bubble. Nobody around because he didn't need anybody around anyway. People were evil.
Yet now the the cold was getting to him. Why did he even want to go 'home', why did he even want to be alone? He had spent last few days with Brendon and Josh, yet now, back here on his own, it felt like they didn't even exist. Two worlds, and he remembered now how this was his. Here.
He had been actually looking forward to being alone for a bit, being here in his own safe space. Some time for himself. Not because he didn't like their company, no not at all, but because he was so not used to being around others at all times. It got to him a bit, no matter how much he enjoyed every second with them.
