Chapter 28

Maeve's POV

“This sucks. Let's say na nasanay na nga ako na walang ginagawa at nandito lang, but hey I could get bored too, you know.” I said at pinunit yung isa sa mga dahon na nakuha ko.
“I know, I know I said I wanted to stay here forever pero sana naman may nakakausap ako, I mean, yes I don't like talking but gusto din namang maramdaman na may kasama ako diba? I wouldn't be complaining right now if I have other things to do.” I continued and sighed, slumping in the ground and leaning my back on the bark of a tree.
“And si Grim may duty sya to collect souls, pero dati lagi syang nasa bahay ko ngayon lagi syang wala. Tingin mo nambababae sya?”

I gaze over at the reaper who was sitting cross legged in front of me and shook his head.

“Sabagay, I don't think magagawa nya yun.” I said wishing na kahit isang word ay magsasalita sya, but all I received was his empty stare.

“Sheesh.”  I said and accidentally caught a glimpse of a female.

“Uy, kayo nanaman.” I said smiling and waved at the three giggling girls na gusto akong maging isa sakanila.
“Pwede ba kayo rito?”

The middle one smiled,
“Hindi eh, hanggang dito lang kami.”

“Dito muna kayo, I'm sure Grim wouldn't mind.” I said, knowing full well na alam ni Grim ang namgyayari ngayon.

The three girls giggled. Something they always do at lumapit sakin, they sat cross legged in front of me gaya nung reaper na parang walang pakielam sa nangyayari sa paligid.

“Ano't pinapunta mo kami rito?” Tanong nung isa sakanila.

“Bored kasi ako eh at wala akong ibang makakausap. Normally kasi nandito si Grim o kaya panonoorin ko ang sarili ko sa pond, but parang paulit-ulit na lang.. So parang may bago naman.” I said at ngumiti.

Nagkatinginan silang tatlo bago magsalita ang isa sakanila.
“Hindi ka ba takot na kunin ka namin?”

“Nah, narinig ko yung sinabi ni Grim noh! Hanggat di ako pumapayag di nyo ako mapapasama, tsaka kung kikidnapin nyo man ako I'm pretty sure na malalaman ni Grim.” I said na ikinatawa nila.

“Pano kung makumbinsi ka namin?” Tanong nila.

“I'm sure na hinde. Kayaaa..”

“Kaya ano? Anong balak mong gawin ngayon?”

“Gusto ko sanang isurpresa si Grim eh habang nandito pa ako, pero hindi ko alam kung papaano, at since babae kayo baka matulungan nyo ako.” I said hopefully, clasping both of my hands.

Nagsalita yung nasa right,
“Maeve, ikaw na mismo nagsabi na alam ni kamatayan lahat ng nangyayari dito.. Kaya tingin ko alam nya na binabalak mong surpresahin sya.”

I suddenly realize my mistake.
“Oh,”

The three girls giggled, tapos pati yung reaper parang umakto na natatawa.
I glared at them.
“Oh shut up, Ok, di ko na sya sosorpresahin.” I said, deciding na ako na lang magpaplano ng surpresa para sakanya pero ano?

The three girls seemed to read my expression at ngumiti sila, nagsalita yung isa sakanila.
“Maeve, kung ako sayo habang nandito ka pa, iparamdam mo na sakanya kung gano sya kahalaga sayo.. na hinding hindi mo sya makakalimutan.”

“Wala naman akong balak na kalimutan sya.. Kung pwede nga lang na hindi eh.” I sighed and they giggled again.

Ilang beses ko na bang sinabi yun giggle? It feels like it's not a real word anymore. Yun lang ba talaga ang kaya nilang gawin?

“Mauna na kami, Maeve.” sabi nila and the left one smirked at me and gave me a knowing look as if sending me a secret message.

And then they disappeared.
I replayed the last thing na sinabi nila. Maybe that's a hint? But what does that have to do with the surprise? Kailangan ba connected yung surprise na yun?

I gaze over at the reaper and gave him a strain smile.
“Makakaalis ka na. Thanks for the company.”

And he also disappeared.
I sighed for what seemed like the tenth time, I gaze over at the flower crowns na ginawa ni Felicity nung nandito pa sya. Konti na lang at para na silang masisira. A bitter smile formed my lips. How I missed that girl. Kahit na pasakit ang dinala nya sakin nung normal pa ang lahat.
I doubt na kung ngayon ay natatandaan nya pa ang mga nangyari samin rito. Back to enemy na naman ang tingin nya sakin.
I took off the boots na suot ko eversince I got in the accident then napunta rito, and climbed the tree kung saan nakasabit yung mga flower crowns na ginawa ni Felicity.

When I was high enough, I sat on the thickest branch and admired the view.
From here I could see the beautiful view, the endless skies, the large pond and the dark path and bridge kung saan nainirahan yung mga spirits daw.

I smiled at the thought of Grim here being with me. If only I could be here forever with him then siguro sobrang saya ko na.
Was this my reward sa pagtitiis ko nung buhay pa ako? My parents never cared about me. I don't have real friends, all I have was my pets at si Zephyr na nanliligaw lang sakin.
Ano pa bang reason kung bakit mabubuhay ako?
But if this is my reward then bakit sobrang bilis naman ata? It is so bittersweet.
If only I could be with him forever. If only I could think of an idea where I could surprise him, tell him how special he is to me, and even though my mind is not sure about remembering him.. But my heart is positive na matatandaan ko pa rin sya, so I'm gonna trust it this time.

Pero pano nga? Pano ko masasabi sakanya na hintayin nya ako?

Suddenly, dread suddenly took over me. What if hindi naman pala ako magising? What if mamamatay ako?
What if last na pagkikita na lang namin to?

My eyes watered at that thought and shook my head. If I die, I would never see him again. If I woke up, there's a chance that I would forget him and when the time comes ay mamamatay din naman ako.

It seems impossible.

I have to accept it. I love him and with my remaining time here I'd show him how much I love him.
