I woke up because of thirst so I slowly went out of bed and opened my fridge pero wala na itong lamang tubig kaya lumabas ako ng kwarto, only to see Hugo going down the stairs.
Psh. Tatakas siguro sya para mambabae.
Hindi ko na sya pinansin at naglakad na lang sa hallway at akmang bababa na sana ng hagdanan nang makita kong may kasama syang lalaki sa sala.
"Sorry to come this late, bro. Importante lang talaga to."
That deep serious voice made my heart jump so it means it is Xavier who Hugo is with but why is he here in the middle of the night?
"Sinamahan ko si Gwen sa meeting nya with her network."
The mention of that name made my blood boil kaya bumaba ako ng dalawang step para mas marinig ang pag-uusapan nila and since madilim sa hagdanan ay hindi nila ako makikita.
"I want to ask you a favor, bro. Gwen is having a hard time na makakuha ng mga projects kasi hindi pa sya ganoon ka-sikat. Her network doesn't want to take a risk for her kaya pwede bang mag mall show sya sa mga malls nyo. Gwen is also talented so she can perform on your hotels and resorts too. I can vouch for her, Hugo. Hindi kayo mapapahiya sa kanya because she's the best."
Unti-unting nadudurog ang puso ko sa paraan nang pag-mamakaawa ni Xavier para kay Gwen. I will never do that to him. I will never make him beg just for me but that bitch made Xavier her lapdog just for her fame.
"Sure, bro. I will tell Mom and Dad tomorrow morning." Sagot naman ni Hugo but I won't let it happen.
If Gwen can control Xavier by her supposed innocence then I can control everything because I am me. I will not let her reach for her star, not on my watch!
Simula nang pag-sabihan ako ni Xavier ay tinatak ko na sa isipan at puso ko na magpapaka-bait ako and be a better person. I tried to do that but he still did not see my effort because Gwen is in the way.
It was Xavier who made me sane but he is also the reason why I will be mad again. I will make sure that he will leave that pathetic famewhore and when that time comes, I will do everything for him to notice me.
I opened the door of my parent's room using the spare keys at naabutan ko silang mahimbing na natutulog. Uunahan ko na si Hugo.
"Mom, Dad. Wake up." Sabi ko and opened the wall lamps kaya napa-upo sila.
"Daniella? What is it?" Inaantok na tanong ni Mom.
"You scared me. Next time, don't stand beside the bed, sweetheart." Sabi naman ni Dad pero hindi ko na ito pinansin pa.
"Tomorrow morning, Hugo will ask you a favor and you will decline it." Diretsa kong sabi kaya pareho nila akong naguguluhan na tinignan.
"What favor? And why would we decline it?" Takang tanong ni Mom.
"It's for someone else's girlfriend and I hate her kaya i-decline niyo."
"Okay, Daniella. As you wish." Humihikab na sabi ni Dad kaya napa-ngisi ako.
"Thank you, Dad. Good night." Naka-ngiti kong sabi bago lumabas ng kwarto nila.
"Ang aga-aga, naka-simangot ka." Kunwari ay masungit kong sabi nang umupo ako sa dining table, while trying hard to hide my smirk because I know na hindi sya pinagbigyan nina Mom and Dad.
"Wala." Tanging sagot nya so I just shrugged and glanced at his fading bruises on his face before I started eating.
"Danae! What the hell happened?!"
