Chapter 36

"I talked to Hugo." Xavier said in the middle of our dinner.

Tumigil naman ako at hinarap sya kaya nakita ko ang hopeful nyang tingin which made my brows meet.

"About what?"

"Your absence for tomorrow."

"Absence?"

"It's my birthday tomorrow so I would like to spend my day with you." Mahina ngunit seryoso nyang sabi kaya natigilan ako at gulat syang tinignan. "Okay lang daw kung papayag ka." Dagdag pa nya.

"So, can you make my day extra special, Danae?" He asked with a small smile which caused my face to heat instantly.

I know that it is his birthday tomorrow but I didn't know that he wants to spend it with me. This is the first time that I get to celebrate it with him and I don't know why I feel excited about it.

"I promise I won't ruin your day. I'll make sure your absence will be worth it." Dagdag pa nya kaya I unconsciously nodded which made him smile wider.

I don't know if this is a good idea or not because the last time we went on a date, my heart was overworked. I was so full of positive feelings that night that lasted for days so I bet it will happen again tomorrow.

"Happy birthday, Xavier." Bati ko nang naabutan syang nag-hahapag ng pagkain.

He gave me a small smile before walking towards me. Nanlaki ang mga mata ko nang yakapin nya ako and suddenly, all the butterflies in my stomach were released from their cages.

"Thank you, Danae." He said sweetly and I don't get it why he acts this way when I just greeted him using a flat tone but nevertheless, a small smile appeared in my lips.

"Let's eat then let's get ready for an adventure." He said lively after we hugged.

I was still frozen in my place at kung hindi pa nya ako tinawag ay hindi ako matatauhan. I felt my cheeks burn when I saw him smirking at me so to hide my embarassment, I rolled my eyes at him which just made him chuckle.

"What adventure are you talking about?" Tanong ko nang matapos akong kumain.

"Basta." Naka-ngiti nyang sagot kaya tinaasan ko sya ng kilay.

"Paano ko malalaman kung anong isusuot ko?" Suplada kong tanong pero hindi nabura ang ngiti nya instead he stood and went to his room. Paglabas nya ay may dala syang paperbag na agad nyang ibinigay sa akin.

"Wear those, okay?"

"What's with you and planning my outfits?" Sarcastic kong tanong pero bahagya lang syang tumawa.

"Just wear them, Danae. I did my best to copy your style so I am sure you'll love those." Sabi na lang nya so I rolled my eyes at him before going inside my room.

I don't know how long I am staring at myself in the mirror because I can't take off my look at how gorgeous I am. The style of clothes are good but it just looked better because I am wearing them.

I heard soft knocks on the door so I tore my eyes from my reflection and quickly took my handbag and went out.

Naabutan ko si Xavier na nakasandal sa gilid ng hamba ng pintuan kaya nagulat pa ako sa kanya. He stood properly and looked at me before giving me a smile.

I was taken aback when he tucked my hair behind my ear and crouched that caused our eyes to meet. He stared at me for a few seconds that only made me more frozen in my place and unfunctional because my system is going crazy at how intense his stare is.

"You look beautiful, as always." He whispered before he stood properly and let go of his hold in my cheek.

"Talaga." Suplada kong sabi bago sya linagpasan dahil feeling ko ay hihimatayin ako kung hindi pa ako lalayo sa kanya.
