Chapter 21

"Caius called." Seryosong sabi ni Xavier sa kalagitnaan ng pag-aalmusal namin kaya mabilis ko syang tinignan.

"He asked me if I can let you visit Finn." Dagdag pa nya kaya nanlaki ang mga mata ko at mabilis binitawan ang mga kubyertos.

"Can I?"

Based on his stiffed face, I know he is hesitating but I also know there is a chance he will let me.

"He pleaded, Danae." Sabi pa nya na nakapagpa-tigil sa akin.

"He was hoping you can make Finn feel better because he can't."

"Then let me visit her, Xavier. My bestfriend needs me."

"What if she--"

"Please?" I pleaded which made him look at me straight into the eyes.

"Okay. We'll visit her on Saturday." He said defeatedly which made me smile.

"Thank you, Xavier." Sincere kong sabi bago bumalik sa pag-kain.

"Hi. How are you?" Mahina kong sabi nang yakapin ko si Caius na halata ang pagod at stress sa laki ng ipinayat nya.

"I'm not fine knowing that Finn is suffering." Sagot nya and I can't help but to hug him again. I am still happy that Finn has someone who is standing beside her.

"I'm gonna go and check her." Paalam ko but Xavier grabbed my wrist kaya napa-tingin ako sa kanya which made him let go of my arm.

Sandali naman akong uniwas ng tingin dahil ramdam ko ang pag-init ng mukha ko.

"I'll come with you." Seryoso nyang sabi but I just shook my head.

"Finn's not gonna hurt me." I said seriously but he just kept staring at me which is making my face heat more.

"Caius said she's not stable, Danae."

"Then just stay outside."

"Fine." He said defeatedly before the three of us went to her room.

Xavier gave me his super serious stare before I went inside and that signature stare of his only made my heart thumped.

I shook my head before I looked at Finn. Tears suddenly formed in my eyes when I saw her state. Gone is the positive Finn I know and all I can see now is a broken Finn.

I wiped away my tears before I sat beside her but she didn't even looked at me. I tried to take deep breaths before I smiled at her, kahit na hindi naman nya ako tinitignan.

I touched her hand pero mabilis nya itong binawi at linagay sa kandungan nya. Blanko nya akong tinignan kaya sandali akong nagulat. Her eyes are nothing but emptiness and how I wish I can make her feel better.

"Guess what? I'm having a baby girl!" I tried to sound lively and excited, hoping she can feel it too but the way she boredly glanced at my tummy told me she is not moved.

"Alam kong kahit hindi sabihin ni Xavier ay masaya pa rin sya na babae ang anak namin. Excited na talaga akong lumabas sya kasi you know, ii-spoil ko sya ng bongga. We will dress her up and all tapos malay mo, maging model din sya gaya ng Ninang Finn nya." Masaya kong sabi pero hindi pa rin sya umimik at tumingin lang sa harapan.

"I really wanted her to be a model. You know just like you kasi automatic na na maganda ang anak ko." Dagdag ko pa bago mahinang tumawa.

Well, it's still my child that will decide for her future pero sinabi ko lang iyon kay Finn dahil I was hoping it can touch her.

Mabilis nya akong liningon so I thought I touched her but based on her meeting brows and glaring eyes, I guess I did not.

Nawala ang ngiti ko at dahan-dahan na tumayo habang inaalalayan ang tyan ko. Maingat akong umatras dahil kahit ayaw ko ay natatakot ako kay Finn. I am afraid that she's too blinded by what happened to her that she can hurt me or my baby.
