Waking up to Derrick shaking me wasn't ideal. The guy seemed to have something urgent to say though. "Sirius Black got into the castle again last night."

My heart stopped. "Hufflepuff?" I asked.

Derrick shook his head. I sighed in relief and sat up. I quickly changed and headed downstairs. I spotted my mom across the common room. "They have got to get better security. What if he comes back again but attacks one of the other houses?" My mom was saying to another girl in our year.

When she spotted us, she smiled and waved goodbye to the girl she was talking too. "Have you guys heard about Hogsmeade this weekend?" She asked.

"No, Victoria better not plan on going though. I don't care if she's getting better or not," I said as we made our way down to breakfast.

Sure enough, Victoria confirmed that she would be spending the day of the Hogsmeade trip in her common room doing homework.

The day of the trip came quickly, and my mom, Zagan, Derrick, and I all piled into a carriage. When the carriage stopped at Hogsmeade, we all went to meet the other demigods in the Three broomsticks.

We pushed together a few tables and ordered butterbeers all around. We spent the entire first part of the trip joking around with one another before splitting up to run errands and play pranks on one another.

I split off with Zagan. We were about to go to the Shrieking Shack when word got around that Harry Potter had been spotted at Hogsmeade. I felt kind of bad for him, but Zagan and I agreed that we should head to Honeydukes instead of the Shrieking Shack.

We bought enough candy to last us a few months and a little for Victoria. We headed outside and were just walking around when Pip landed on Zagan's shoulder. Zagan untied the letter from Pip's claw and passed it to me as he stroked the top of the tiny owls head.

I opened the letter and gaped at the tear stained page.

I have news. Like news news. Come back to the castle now please...

-Vicky

"Zagan, we gotta go," I said, shoving the letter into his hand. He read it quickly before sprinting off ahead of me to the carriages.

Professor McGonagall was standing near them and raised and eyebrow at the two of us. "What's the rush?"

"Just can't wait to get this candy back to Victoria," I said quickly before hopping into one of the carriages. Zagan climbed in after me and together we raced back to the castle.

The second the carriage stopped, we both jumped out and sprinted to the entrance hall. The sight we saw didn't make me feel any better. Victoria was hugging Professor Lupin and sobbing. Zagan paused looked shocked.

Victoria turned to see us and rushed into my arms and continued sobbing. "I found her running here like this. I think this letter has something to do with it. I'll get going now," Professor Lupin said, handing Zagan the letter and walking away.

Dear Victoria, We lost. I'm allowed to bring him back to Hogwarts. Execution date to be fixed. Beaky has enjoyed London. I won't forget all the help you gave us.

-Hagrid

Zagan read it aloud before pulling Victoria into his embrace, "We'll stop it if we can, I promise," Zagan said.

"No, no, i, i, if, if Hagrid let's him go, Ha, Hagrid will be in trouble," Victoria sobbed burying her head further into Zagan's shoulder.

I reached around to rub her back. Slowly her sobs turned to soft whimpers. We led her slowly down to her common room before dropping her off and making sure she would be okay. We left behind the candy we had got for her and left her nibbling on a chocolate frog.

"I wish we could have done more," Zagan said as we headed up the stairs.

"Yeah, Buckbeak definitely doesn't deserve a death like this."

We walked the rest of the way in silence before walking away from each other. I truly felt bad. Maybe if we had all worked a little harder to help, Buckbeak wouldn't be dying. No matter what though, I wasn't going to let Buckbeak get executed or Hagrid get in trouble. Something told me I could definitely do both. As of right now it was just a matter of how.
