THIRD PERSON POV
"What did you say? Could you please repeat that." Elpis stopped whatever she was doing when she heard one of her scouts came back with alarming news.
"The holy knights were seen just outside of the Capital's border, your majesty. Even the Red Caps scouting team is reporting the same situation at our northern border. Not only that. Even the south, East and West. As if they're trying to surround us with their presence." Elpis turned to her wife with a smile.
"How did you- just how- you predicted this to happen several weeks ago! How did you-," Virtra was speechless.
"It's not hard to pinpoint everything. After I announced Isadora as my heir, the elders were not happy, and even the nobles started to revolt. It's only natural for the high priest to make his move now that the Empire is in the process of changing power. The only group of people who knows about Tiraura's contract was us, Camille and Isadora, herself. I would like to see how they react when an ancient goddess is standing tall and proud behind the 'commoner.'" The scout leaders feel awkward.
"You may go and continue scouting their movement. Tell us immediately if there's any new movement." The scout leader nodded and excused herself. When he closed the door behind him, he sighs in relief.
"I just survived meeting two of the most prominent figure in the Empire. How was it possible for me to meet someone as dignified as the shadow empress and her wife?" He asked himself while he went back to his camp.
On his way to the camp, he suddenly came across the dame who will be taking over the shadow empress throne together with the archduchess oldest son on a field practicing swinging swords.
"You've been practicing with the capital's strongest knight! Is this all that you get from him? I am disappointed, young master." The dame easily dodges any attack made by the young master without batting an eye for his efforts.
The scout leader was surprised when the young master suddenly laying on the ground while the dame point the tip of her sword on his neck.
"I have lost again." The dame smiled before helping the young master yo to his foot.
"How did you do that? I didn't even saw you move." He sighed.
"I have a long way to go if I ever wish to be a master swordsman. Isadora, how did you do it? What kind of training where you have to go through to be as exceptional as today?" The dame placed a hand on the young master's head.
"The training was bad, and it's not for everyone. The Knighthood made a weapon out of you, but in the end, the Knighthood asked you to find your peace after killing hundreds of innocent life." The young master gave the dame a sympathetic smile.
"That's okay, Isadora. Now that you're here with my mother and us, you don't have to feel like that anymore. This place is your peace, your freedom. And we love you just the way you are." The scout leader didn't expect that the young master would react that way towards the dame. He smiled before continuing his journey back to his camp.
When he arrived, he was surprised to see several of his comrades were outside, grilling something on the grill while rest decided to get themselves drunk.
"What's going on here? We didn't receive any order to idle around. We have to get ourselves ready for tomorrow's journey back to the border!" The scout leader was not happy knowing his underlings is slacking off.
"We haven't been staying in the capital for months! Of course, we're going to have some fun before going back to the borders. Relax, we just called some 'friends' of ours to entertain us while we're here. We're men! We need some pleasure to quench our thirst." The scout leader was appalled by the fact that his underlings dare to talk back to him.
