ISADORA'S POV
*Dinner with Aphrodite*
"Is the food not to your liking, my queen?" I asked when Aphrodite didn't even touch her food. Aphrodite shakes her head, no before pushing the plate forward and look up to me. I was utterly confused while chewing my dinner.
"Is there any news about my parents? How are they?" Ah, she was waiting for this news all this time.
"You've been waiting for their news all this time? Why didn't you force the officials to tell you what you wish to know?" Aphrodite pointed at her belly.
"They said I couldn't let my judgment clouded with facts. Please tell me, are they well? Where are they now? Are my parents even eating, right? I have to know, Isadora." I can see why the officials wouldn't want to tell her anything. She is overly sensitive right now.
"The former king and queen are fine. That goes for your siblings as well. There's only so much I can do for them since they publicly announced that you're not their daughter anymore. Please don't worry too much. I had asked the butler to find them comfortable accommodation. The Temple has spoken, and your family is nothing but a common commoner." Aphrodite started to cry in front of me.
"Why do I feel so sad? They practically disowned me, but why do I want to see them personally?" Oh no. Here we go again.
"My queen, look at me." She did look up to me with her teary eyes.
"What do you want me to do? I'll do whatever I can do, make sure I will fulfil your desire." Aphrodite wipes off the tears from her cheek before taking my hands with hers.
"Can't you do something to make sure they don't starve to death? Whether we like it or not, they're still my family. They were once proud ruler of a kingdom. They have no ways to know how to survive living like a commoner because since they were born, everything was prepared for them." I sighed.
In other words, she wants a royal servant to be there, taking care of them? I can't do that.
"I can't let any royal servants working for them. I'm sorry, I just can't let that happen." Aphrodite squeezes my hands.
"It doesn't have to be a royal servant. You can just find someone who has experience taking care of a noble. Isn't it better to keep an eye on them rather than let them run loose?" Aphrodite does have a point. Who knows what they're planning. I finally agree with Aphrodite's request.
"Alright. I'll do just that. Now, wipe your tears, and let's eat. The food is getting cold now." Aphrodite let go of my hands, and we continue to eat.
"Are you ready to meet Octavia? After what she did to you, I'm sure she's pretty worried that you might not be happy to be with her." Huh? Why would Octavia fee that way?
"What do you mean? All she did was stabbing my thigh with her dagger. I'm not even mad at her for doing so. It was my mistake for putting my arms her body when we sleep." Aphrodite sighed when she wipes her mouth.
"And you think that's normal? She's a queen! You need to talk with her. We tried to find out about her issues, but she just wouldn't open her heart to any of us. Octavia even refuses to say anything to Cassiopeia, and she's a shaman queen!" I don't see why Cassiopeia's gift have to do with anything.
"Alright. I will be spending my night with her. I'll try to do something." We were just about to finish up when Octavia's servant suddenly requested to have an audience with me.
"What is it?" I inquired the servant who continues to bow in front of me.
"I know that this servant has no right to say such a thing, but your highness need not be at milady's chamber tonight. Her highness wishes to tell your highness, the empress, that she's not feeling well." I raised an eyebrow. Octavia sent her servant to tell me that she is sick?
