"normality is a paved road: It's comfortable to walk, but no flowers grow."
- vincent van gogh
Tara craved for adventure. She had a desire for something beyond the daily life. She wanted to experience things and live life to the fullest. As she had told Draco that day in the astronomy tower: You only live once, and she didn't want to look back at life and think "I haven't done everything I wanted to do". She was glad she had found Draco because he thought the same.
So, they traveled. They traveled everywhere and nowhere. To far of lands and to nearby towns. They explored hidden places and walked of the beaten track. They found small quaint bookshops and stayed there for hours. She pained in the middle of the night and during the day while Draco read. And once they had gone everywhere and done most of the things they wished to do, they went home.
Home was a cozy house in a small French village. It helped the both of them, particularly Draco, to be away from where everything bad had ever happened. They had two lovely children, Scorpius and Astrin. At first, settling down and having children was a big change from the freedom of travel they had gotten used to. There had been nothing holding them down or keeping them back, but now they had their children to take care of. It certainly was difficult some days, but it was worth it. Watching Astrin sit on Draco's shoulders as they ran around the garden and walked to the local park. Watching Scorpius try to teach Draco how to use a skateboard and to watch the pure wonder on their faces when they were told bedtime stories about far of lands and creatures they could not imagine had ever existed. To hear them laugh, a sound full of happiness that warmed you up from the inside. When they asked questions after question and were overcome with pure excitement at hearing stories from their travels.
It was all worth it because they were happy. They were in love with being alive.
She would go to the bakery in the morning and buy a loaf of fresh bread. As she would stand and watch the waves from the promenade as they crashed into the rocks, the bred would still be warm. The gulls would be screaming, and although she really did not like seagulls they contributed to the atmosphere of the small coastal village. If it was windy enough she would feel the spray of the waves on her face. The old stone buildings were decorated in the most beautiful bricks and mosaics as cats lounged on the walls in the morning light. The green of the trees on her walk home was vivid and bright and the flowers lining the road would be the most diverse array of colours. The sky could be cloudy and grey or blue and clear, but she would always stand there for a second and just revel in the fact that she existed and that she was happy to be alive.
"think of all the beauty still left around you and be happy"
