BEN's POV

I knew Vio and Violet weren't safe, so I showed them to a small cabin that was out in the woods.

My home before death.

I knew it wasn't the SAFEST place on earth, but if was much, much safer than sleeping outside, seeing as the men who now owned the place threw Lyra and Violet out.

There were only two beds, and only one bedroom, so I took an extra quilt, and made a curtain between the two beds.

I suggested that girls be on one side, and boys on the other, but Vio insisted that he and I should be on one side of the room each, in case anything happened.

Naturally, Vio chose the side Violet was on, him being her boyfriend and all, so I got the little girl, Lyra.

She, like Violet, was not fazed by the blood slowly dripping out of my eyes and down my cheeks. She was not scared by any of it, on the contrary, even in the very short time I'd known her, she'd fallen down, and I gave her a piggy-back here, so she looked up to me as a big brother.

To be honest, I loved the little girl too. She was sweet and kind, and she was just so cute! I don't know WHAT I'd do if anything happened to Lyra. I understood how Vio must've felt.

"You all must be tired..." I said, yawning.

"Night'" Said Vio, sleepily, and he pulled the covers over his head.

"Night'" I said.

I fell asleep as soon as my head hit the pillows.

(In BEN's Dream)

I sat on a large rock, next to Lake Hylia, watching my friends swim, race and laugh.

'Come on in, Ben! ' said one of them. 'The water's fine!'

'Eh.' I said, trying to sound indifferent, but inside, fear clawed it's way up into my chest.

I'd always been afraid of water. Always. I wasn't just about to jump into a lake. Hell, I didn't even know how to swim!

'Come on, Ben! Try it! it's fun!'

'I- I don't-'

'We'll help you if you feel scared, man!'

'oh... okay...'

As my foot sank up to the ankle in cool, clear water, I could barely hold in my urge to turn back, screaming. But for some reason, I kept going, farther and farther into the lake. all the way up to my shoulders.

I cried out as someone splashed my face with a wave of water.

'Hey!' I yelled, but they were too busy laughing at me, soaked in water.

I then did the most sensible thing in the world.

I splashed back.

He splashed me.

Soon, what had been a fun, friendly splash fight turned into a full out water war.

The boy, breathing heavy, began to relentlessly hit me with waves of water.

I tried to splash, back, but my natural reflexes would not allow it.

'St- stop!' I tried to yell, but as I opened my mouth, water filled my  lungs and nose.

I could not breathe. I tried to call out to make him stop, but I was drowning.

Suddenly I found myself in chains, pain washing all over me, I was blind, and then it happened, I felt the hands grab me, hoist me up, and throw me into the water.

I tried to breathe, but I sucked in a lung-full of water.

'HELP!!!!' I thought desperately...

"NO!!!" I sat bolt upright in bed, breathing heavily, the blood now staining my pillow, was thinned out, mixed with sweat and tears.

"Ben?" A small voice said next to me. "Are you okay?"

"I-I'm fine, Lyra. I just.."

"Had a bad dream?" Lyra asked.

"Yeah."

"Here. Wear this." She pulled out from under her top a leather cord, attached to the end on it was a small dream- catcher.

She took it off from around her neck and handed it to me.

"Don't you need it?"

"Why would I? I have you to keep me safe."

I smiled, and put on the necklace.

"Night, Lyra."

"Night, Big Brother."
