Ellie watched from afar as you fastened your horses saddle, a small smile etched onto her face and a glint in her eyes as she saw you laugh at something your horse had done.

Today, you and Ellie were set to go on a patrol together and the brunette was quite happy knowing that the two of you would get some alone time.

It had been a month since the get together, and with each passing day, you gained Ellie's trust. Although it had only been a month, the two of you were almost back to normal.

"Come on, Ellie!"

Shaking her head to rid it of thoughts, she walks towards Shimmer and mounts her. You spare Ellie a smile before trotting over to the gates, Ellie following behind you.

"You girls be safe."

You smiled towards Joel and nodded "We will. See you soon, old man."

You hear a gruff chuckle come from the older man as you lead h/n out of the large gates and into the overgrown spruce forest.

"Clouds are looking darker." you sighed, glancing towards the sky that was now littered with dark clouds.

Ellie hummed in agreement "We should find shelter before a storm hits. There should be one up ahead, about a miles distance."

You nodded and came to a trot beside Ellie. You sent her a small smile "I forgot how nice it could be outside the walls." Ellie smiled, taking in your relaxed features as you closed your eyes and inhaled the crisp, afternoon air.

"Its nice until the infected come out."

You sighed and looked to the brunette "Come on, El's wheres your cheerfulness!?"

She chuckled, watching as you smiled your cheeky smile at her. She was going to reply, but was ultimately stopped by a great rumble of thunder that was soon followed by droplets of rain.

You and Ellie glanced towards each other before ordering your horses to canter. Rain poured over the two of you as you made your way down the path. 

By the time you had reached shelter the two of you were soaking wet, clothes sticking to your bodies as you tied up your horses and settled inside the building.

"God, its fucking cold!" Ellie shivers and runs hers hands up and down her arms, desperately trying to provide herself some warmth.

"Maybe you'd feel better if you took off your soaking wet jacket." you commented, taking your soaked shirt and jacket off, leaving you in nothing but your sports bra and jeans.

Ellie's cheeks flushed and she changed her gaze from you to the floor. You glance towards Ellie at her sudden quietness, only to find her blushing deeply.

You rolled your eyes and smiled, happy that you still had this affect on her and silently awing at the fact that she still respected your privacy.
