When Marlene mentioned helping people, with the names of Joel and Tess, take a piece of cargo to the Capital building, you weren't thinking the 'cargo' would be a fourteen-year-old girl.

"She's the cargo we're taking to the Capital? Marlene, what the hell, why do I need to help them?"

Marlene winces and holds her wound, eyes tiredly shifting from you, to Joel and Tess who seemed just as upset as you.

"You're a firefly, y/n. You know how to get to the Capital building better than anyone, you've been there countless of times."

You roll your eyes "They don't need me to take them, they're two damn adults. They can handle their own."

"Y/n." Marlene warns, slowly standing up straight as she stared you down.

"To hell with this, I ain't going with two kids." Joel mutters with a shake of his head as he made his way towards the door, but Tess stops him before he can leave.

"Now come on Joel, we need those guns. It won't be that hard, plus, as soon as we drop her off, we lose both of them."

Joel sighs heavily and pulls his hand away from the doors handle. Tess steps away from the bearded man and walks over to Marlene, eyes glancing between you and Ellie.

"We'll take them, but I need to see the weapons first. Where are they?"

Marlene sighs and staggers over to a chair, holding it tightly to keep her balance "We hold them at our camp. I can take you there and get patched up, but they're not going to that side."

Ellie scoffs and you cross your arms over your chest "I've been over there before. Like you said, I'm a firefly. Let me come with you" Marlene spares you a glare and shakes her head "No, you are to stay with Ellie and Joel." she says firmly.

You huff and walk over to the door, swinging it open with force and letting it slam against the wall as you storm out, leaving the younger girl and older man with Tess and Marlene.

"Stubborn girl ain't she?" Joel questioned with slight annoyance.

"She's a sweet girl, you just have to get to know her. She hasn't had the easiest life."

"None of us have." Joel mutters, glancing to the door you stormed out of "Look, just take these girls to the north tunnel and wait for me there." Joel glances at Tess then to Marlene, a heavy sigh falling from his lips as he made his way over to the door.

"Marlene..." Ellie starts, only to stop a few seconds later as Marlene shakes her head "No more talking." she speaks "You'll be fine. Go with Joel, and y/n"

Defeatedly, Ellie walks towards Joel and follows him outside, leaving Marlene and Tess to themselves.

"You two stay close." Joel mutters, slipping pass a group of guards. You roll your eyes and make your way in front of him, much to his annoyance.

"The hell do you thing you're doing? Stay behind me!"

You continue to ignore his protests "I'm not a baby and I'm perfectly capable of protecting myself. I don't need your help old man, now leave me alone."
