"Thank you again, you guys are lifesavers!"

You smile at Dina and take JJ from her arms. He coos at you and reaches up to play with the strings of your hoodie, gently chewing on them. You smile down at him and tickle his stomach causing him to squeal and giggle in delight.

Ellie smiles at the sight of you holding JJ and wraps an arm around your waist, smiling at Dina as JJ preoccupies your attention.

"It's not a problem, Dina. You know how much we love this little rascal!" she ruffles the younger boys hair causing him to giggle once again and hide is face in your shoulder, desperately trying to hide from Ellie's teasing.

Dina smiles at the two of you, thanking you one last time before pressing a kiss to her sons head and running off to Jesse for their date night.

Once Dina is gone you close the front door and walk into the living room that is littered with small toys, stuffed animals and books for children.

You and Ellie often babysat the young boy, meaning your house was full of things that helped preoccupy him.

"Okay, Little guy, what do you wanna do tonight?"

You set the baby down gently and watch as he crawls over to the living rooms coffee table that had coloring books and crayons. He babbles and grabs onto the crayon, trying to put it in his mouth.

Your eyes go wide and you shake your head, gently moving it away from his mouth.

"No, no, JJ. No eating the crayon, its not meant to be eaten. It's meant for coloring, see?"

You grab onto another crayon and open the coloring book, gently placing pressure onto the tip of the crayon to brush the color against the slightly yellow paper.

His eyes go wide and he brushes his crayon against the paper, smiling as he watches the vibrant color shine.

He continued to scribble on the paper with all kinds of different colors, not even caring that he was coloring out of the lines, and after a few minutes of watching him color you and Ellie join him.

As time passes JJ grabs onto an empty paper and starts to scribble on it, eventually crawling over to Ellie and taking a seat on her lap while waving the paper in front of her face.

"This for me?"

He smiles and continues to hold the paper in Ellie's face.

"I'll take that as a yes. Thank you booger." she grins, peppering kisses to the boys cheek causing him to squeal. You laugh and watch as the two of them interact, a look of adoration held in your eyes as you look at the two of them.

"8, 9, 10! Ready or not here I come!"

Ellie looks down to her lap at a smiling JJ and holds a finger up to her lips as he babbles and holds onto one of her fingers.

"Shh, booger. We gotta be quiet, we can't let her win."

He looks up to Ellie with a look of wonder and mimics her, pressing his unoccupied hand up to his mouth and pushing his lips together making an obnoxious shushing sound.

Ellie laughs and tugs JJ closer as she peers over the couch, watching as you looked for her and the younger boy in your shared bedroom then the kitchen.

"Huh, not in here" you spoke rather loudly. To be honest, you knew exactly where they were. It wasn't hard to find them since JJ continued to babble and squeal.

"Are they over here?!" you jump out behind the couch but look the wrong way.

"No, they're not here." you mutter, index finger resting on your chin as you scan the room "Where could they be?"

JJ giggles and nuzzles further into Ellie, trying to silence his giggles. Just as he becomes quiet, you turn around.

"There you two are!."

He squeals and laughs as you gently take him from Ellie's arms and into yours while you tickle him.

"No!" he squeals, wiggling around in your arms as you pepper kisses across his face. Ellie smiles and stands up from the ground "I'll help you JJ!" she takes JJ from your arms and runs off towards the bedroom.

You laugh and follow behind Ellie and JJ, loving the cheerful sound of Ellie's laughter and the joyous squeals of JJ.

Ellie jumps and gently lands on the bed, you following behind her.

"I got you!" you shout, wrapping your arms around JJ and Ellie. She laughs as you press a kiss to her lips, then to JJ's cheek, who smiles as you and Ellie lay down on either side of him.

He gives you a sloppy kiss on the cheek causing you to laugh and smile before he then crawls onto Ellie's stomach, resting his head on her chest.

He yawns and closes his eyes, his small fist holding onto one of your fingers as the other one clings to Ellie's shirt, the exhaustion of playing for three hours straight finally catching up to him.

Ellie smiles and rests a hand on the young boys back, softly running her fingers along his back and even sometimes through his hair. You sigh softly and glance from JJ to Ellie, loving the way she looked at and treated JJ as if he was her own.

"I want one." she mutters with a pout. You laugh and lean forward, pressing a kiss to her cheek "Me too, El's"

The two of you lay in silence as you stare down at the boy who you love unconditionally. You gently brush some hair away from his forehead and watch as he cuddles closer to Ellie.

You press a kiss to his head and carefully slide closer to him and Ellie, making sure your movements were slow as to not wake the young boy.

Ellie sighed softly and closed her eyes, feeling overwhelmed with such happiness that she thought her heart would burst out of her chest.

This would possibly be the closest thing the two of you would get to having a small family, and although JJ wasn't exactly either of yours, you would always act as if he was.

Slowly but surely Ellie had started to become sleepy, her body relaxing and her breathing slowing as sleep started to take over.

You grinned widely at the sight of her falling asleep with the younger boy in her arms, in fact, your smile was so wide that it had started to hurt your cheeks. You let a small sigh rush past your lips as you pressed a lingering kiss to Ellie's temple.

"I'm gonna go make some dinner. You stay here with this goober and get some rest, I love you."

Pressing one last kiss to the brunettes temple you stand from the bed and make your way out of the room, managing to hear a quiet 'I love you too' before you step out completely.
