Yumi's POV

Weeks had passed and last day na ng pasok namin dahil sembreak na simula bukas, paghahanda para sa araw ng undas at para mapuntahan yung puntod ng mga minamahal namin sa buhay na namatay na. My family decided to go back in Japan since nandoon ang puntod ng lolo at lola namin.

"Ms. Rivera" pagtawag sakin ni Ms. Lene.

Ano ba yan napalalim yata yung iniisip ko at nakalimutan kong nagdidiscuss si Ms. Lene.

"Yes po?" tanong ko pagkatayo ko.

"When was the Philippine history started?" tanong niya.

"History of the Philippine was started on 1565–1898" sagot ko.

"The history of the Philippines from 1565 to 1898, also known as the Spanish Philippines or the Spanish colonial period, was the period during which the Philippines were part of the Spanish Empire as the Spanish East Indies within the Captaincy General of the Philippines" dagdag ko pa.

"Very good but Ms. Rivera please next time listen to my discussion" sabi niya.

"Okay you may take your seat" sabi niya at nagpatuloy sa discussion kaya naupo na ako.

"So as I was saying, Philippines is named after King Philip II of Spain (1556-1598) and it was a Spanish colony for over 300 years. Today the Philippines is an archipelago of 7,000 islands. However it is believed that during the last ice age they were joined to mainland Asia by a land bridge, enabling human beings to walk from there" mahabang paliwanag niya.

"The first people in the Philippines were hunter-gatherers. However between 3,000 BC and 2,000 BC people learned to farm. They grew rice and domesticated animals. From the 10th AD century Filipinos traded with China and by the 12th Century AD Arab merchants reached the Philippines and they introduced Islam" pagpapatuloy ni Ms. Lene.

"Who sailed across the Pacific In 1521?" tanong ni Ms. Lene kaya nagtaas kami ng kamay.

"Ms. Garcia?" tawag niya kay Gilliane.

"It's Ferdinand Magellan who sailed across the Pacific" sagot ni Gilliane.

"Very good, you may take your seat" sabi ni Ms. Lene.

"Ferdinand Magellan landed in the Philippines and claimed them for Spain. Magellan baptized a chief called Humabon and hoped to make him a puppet ruler on behalf of the Spanish crown. Magellan demanded that other chiefs submit to Humabon but one chief named Lapu Lapu refused. Magellan led a force to crush him. However the Spanish soldiers were scattered and Magellan was killed"
