Reckless Decisions

"AAAHH!"

I had thought I would be brave. I had thought I'd be courageous.
A fearless and dangerous enemy that would send the Chitauri running. Instead here I was, screaming on the top of my lungs when I spotted one coming after me, dashing around like a headless chicken, as I ducked the blue beams fired at me.

"Uh... what is the freakishly dressed girl doing?" A voice spoke from the other end that I recognized as Barton.

"Running away from the freaking alien after me!" I shouted breathlessly before adding. "And the name's Calypso."

"Aren't you supposed to be a Super?"

"Well yeah.... But I have never done this thing before. I haven't even punched anyone in my short life for God sake. A little help would be appreciated."

Just as I finished speaking, an arrow came flying right above me, and I turned to see it hitting the alien in its neck.

I gasped in surprise. "Whoa, you're good."

"Just try to stay out of sight and trip them or something." He advised as I bent low to pick up the alien weapon

I smirked. "Now, where's the fun in that?"

I started sprinting again, one hand holding up my hood to keep it in place, the other swinging with the new gadget in my possession.
Turning around the corner, I came face to face with a close up scene of a very charming fight between the green creature and half a dozen Chitauri. I raised my newly acquired high-tech weapon, pointing it at the one nearest to me.

"Now, how does this work?"

I frowned, feeling up the thing for a button or something when one of them saw me, instantly marching forward.

Shit. Shit. SHIT.

Swearing as it came near, I acted out on impulse, swinging the staff around and nailing it right in the head. It immediately crumpled to the ground, and I let out a short yell of triumph.
But as my luck would have it, I successfully drew the attention of the others. I held up the staff defensively, before I decided to take Barton's advice.

Roots broke out of the concrete, tying up around the approaching monsters and effectively knocking them to the ground. I bashed the staff on one's head, cringing as it came into contact with the hardened part of the armor.

"I am so not cut out for this."

As I hit the other one, my fingers pressed down on a small trigger that I had missed earlier, and a sharp blast of power blew both the alien and me to the opposite sides.

With a wince, I pulled myself up, spitting out the purple strands of the wig and groaning in discomfort.
I squinted as my eyes landed on the green-skinned giant smashing two aliens into the pavement, letting out a tremendous roar that I was sure had quite possibly damaged my ear drums.

Without thinking, I called out.
"Hey! Do you mind keeping it down a notch? We all know you're cool and all but I have sensitive ears."

He immediately quietened, snapping his angry gaze at me and narrowing them with a scary snarl.

Instead of backing down like any sane person would, I carried on.
"Thanks buddy. You're awesome."

Surprisingly, he grinned at that.

Someone liked compliments.

The next thing that I did, I blamed entirely on the adrenaline pumping through my veins.

"Hulk, right?" He inclined his head in a silent confirmation. "Wanna give me a lift to the top?"

The Hulk regarded me blankly before wrapping his large hand around me at an impossible speed and jumped off the ground. I shrieked as he landed on the sides of the buildings, sending a jolt through me every time, before finally dropping me off on a roof beside the bow and arrow wielding guy. He didn't wait for me to thank him, leaping straight onto an alien ship, and throwing it off course.
