I sat, cross-legged, in one corner of my room, inhaling and exhaling as the instructor on the video guided.
The space was quiet, being devoid of the annoying duo I called Mom and Willow, and I was extremely grateful for that.
Guess it's all about the little blessings in life.
Downstairs, the adults were in a meeting, as was conveyed by JARVIS, followed by a reminder that dinner would soon be ready.
After I'd realized what was going on with me and my messed up head, I was quick to apologize to everyone, especially Thor, who I'd attacked like a rabid animal, before excusing myself to regain some semblance of peace.
Atleast now, I didn't feel like jumping off a cliff anymore.
"Weird." I mumbled aloud.
"What's weird?"
I jumped, before my eyes settled on Mom's form.
"Can't you walk through the door like a normal person?" I pinched my nose in exasperation.
"But I'm not a normal person." She shrugged. "I'm the soul of the mother of the craziest child on the planet."
"Wonder where I got that crazy from." I mumbled lowly.
"What?"
"Nothing!"
Mom squinted at me suspiciously before falling back on my bed.
"Sooo..." She drawled. "What's weird?"
"Huh?"
"You were muttering something about something being weird."
"Oh yeah." I nodded slowly, a frown building on my face.
"It's my emotions." I told her. "They're all over the place."
"Weren't they always?"
I resisted the urge to roll my eyes. "No actually, I've always been good at controlling them. Even during the times of the month."
Wonder where I got that from too...
I glanced at her pointedly, but obviously she didn't know what I was thinking.
"It's simple." She said, almost boredly. "Your body is in a state of complete and utter imbalance."
My eyes slightly widened. "You mean-"
She nodded once. "You're going to get random bursts of emotions and it can happen anytime, anywhere. So until you complete your quest to stabilisation, you're going have to keep a tighter leash on your feelings and thoughts."
"Oh great!" I groaned. "Just when I thought I had enough to deal with. This quest is bloody stupid."
Before she could reply a knock on the door interrupted our lovely conversation and huffing, I went up to open it. Pepper's perpetual pretty beam, as I liked to call her smile, greeted me and I immediately returned it.
"Hi, how are things with you?"
"Hey Pepper." I waved. "I'm fine now."
Probably.
"Dinner's ready. I came to fetch you."
"Oh, you shouldn't have."
She just smiled. "Let's go."
Silently, I followed her, lost in thoughts until we reached the common room. Which was, for the lack of a better word, a mess.
Pizza boxes and half empty bottles were strewn around the table, files still scattered the surface and the Avengers lounged in the middle of it all.
