"Wake up."

The words drifted in my mind, penetrating through layers of foggy thoughts and dreams.
I grumbled incoherently, feeling the softness of the surface beneath as I sunk deeper in it.

"Wake up!"

I turned, pulling up the sheets over my head sleepily as I ignored the voice again, hearing an annoyed sigh in return.

"By the Spiri- WAKE UP!"

My eyes wrenched open and I leaped off the bed, tangled in sheets which caused me to stumble and fall heavily on the floor.
I pushed the hair from my eyes and glanced up to see Willow above me.

"What the hell, Willow?" I glared, getting up dizzily, holding onto the bedside table for support.

"You have to learn how to control the powers granted to you. I've been sent to assist."

I tried to think through my spinning head. "What are you talking abou- Oh!"

Memories swarmed me. "Ohh!" I interjected again, eyes widening as I took in the familiar surroundings of my bedroom in London, before turning back to Willow.

"How am I.....how am I here? The last I remember, I was....." I trailed off, recalling Terra as she shoved some sort of light inside me before I blacked out.

"After you proved your worthiness to the Earth Spirits, they sent you back home. But now that you have their abilities, you must learn how to control them."

"How did that happen anyway? It makes no sense! Why would they gift something so big after just listening to one song? I'm not even a professional!"
I scrunched my forehead, contemplating the weirdness of it all.

I feel like I'm missing something.

"It wasn't the singing, but the song itself that they were judging you for." Willow stated, causing my frown to deepen as I looked at him.

"What do you mean by that?"

"You were asked to sing the first song that came to mind." Even though, it wasn't a question, I nodded.
"And out of all the songs in the world, everything you could've chosen from, you chose a song about hope. And from the way you sang it, you believed every word of it. The Spirits are smart, they test you for the most important qualities in the most uncanny way. You were deemed worthy because you had hope, and that very hope is what will save you and others on this planet."

I was rendered speechless, mouth opening and closing, trying to form words and failing.

I'm sure you look like an idiot.

With that pretty thought, I blurted. "You mean to say, that if I had sang about something else like, I don't know, money or love, I would've failed?"

"Probably, yes."

I shook my head, terror of everything that could've gone wrong seeping in.

Well, I guess we should be thankful I chose a Barbie song.

"So these powers..." I changed the subject after a moment of pondering. "Can I control the earth now?"

"Yes."

A slow grin creeped onto my face. "You mean I can, like, grow whatever fruits I want even if it's not the season?"

Willow seemed to be raising his non-existent eyebrows at me. "Not right away, you can't. There's a lot of practice involved in perfecting the use of Affinities."

I couldn't care less for his warnings, I was already thinking of how many delicious fruits I could eat, naturally grown and free of cost!

"Are you even listening to me?"
