"HOW COULD YOU DO THIS TO ME?!" I screamed at the creature hovering in front of me while he stared back with his unnervingly glowing eyes.
Oh I apologize. Let us rewind back a bit, shall we?
After I had gotten off the plane ride, that was spent being uncomfortably unsure about everything on my part, and completed all the formalities, I stepped out of the Cluj-Napoca Airport and into the warm weather of Romania.
Willow and I barely talked, there were so many people, which I later found out was due to it being tourist season. And from what I had read, the forest was one of the many tourist attractions, which meant I'd not be alone going into the unknown woods. Whether that was a good thing or not, I couldn't decide.
I spotted a group of people standing around looking like the typical foreigners and after some investigation and enlistment for a tour the next day, I finally found a motel for me to rest for the night. Walking into the room I got, I paused with my back to the closed door, taking a moment to get my bearings. I was in an unknown city, with a supernatural creature in my pocket that was supposed to be my guide to even more otherworldly beings.
Which reminded me...
"Hey Willow, you can get out now. I got us a place."
A noise sounded from my coat, before he then appeared right in front of me.
"Finally! I was being suffocated in there!"Startled, I stumbled back a few steps. "Did you just teleport from inside my pocket?"
"No."
"But, I didn't even see you leaving. You just materialized from thin air!"
"My kind has the ability to vanish from one place and transport to another."
I gave him a blank look. "That's exactly what teleportation is."
Irritatingly enough, he just shrugged lightly, causing me to grit my teeth.
"Why did you even have to stick with me if you could just teleport straight away?"
"I can only do that for a short distance. I'm a guide, I lead people to places unseen. The teleportation, as you say, would not be very helpful if the person can't even see me, now would it?"
I didn't react to his mocking tone, instead thinking about the realization that had struck me at that.
"So you are the same as the kind that led Merida to the witch's cottage in the woods in Brave." I mused."Led who to what in what?" At the absolute bafflement in his child-like voice, I couldn't help but let out a giggle.
Deciding to give him a taste of his own medicine, I replied.
"Merida, to the witch's cottage, in Brave."I'm pretty sure he gave me the most withering look he could manage with his expressionless face, and I chuckled maniacally.
Willow shook his head letting out a tiny huff as he disappeared again. Curiously, I looked around to see where he had gone but couldn't spot him. I shrugged, deciding to let him be before I removed my bag, letting it fall to the ground as I walked into the bathroom to freshen up. As soon as I was done, I exited and dove into the bed face-first.
I let out a relieved sigh at finally being able to sleep after the strange day I had experienced.
"Anonymously written letters, exploring abandoned tunnels, absorbing random stones, and following supernatural beings into an unknown country. What a day....."
I sat up straight when I suddenly realized that I hadn't even told anyone where I was going, just packed and left. Which, now that I was thinking back to it, had been a really idiotic move. I couldn't even text anyone of my whereabouts without being interrogated relentlessly and, in the process, having my sanity questioned. But if anything happened to me, no one would ever found out. The realization chilled me to my bone as another thought struck me. I had forgotten to do something.
