Don't worry, he said. It's just a small party, he said.
Bloody freakin' liar.
I stood in a corner, watching through horrified eyes at all the unknown people as they mingled, talked and laughed, their voices ringing annoyingly in my ears while my mind replayed the events that led me to this.
.
"I challenge you."
"Challenge accepted."
"Oh, it's on!" My eyes narrowed, pinning him with a glare. "Watch me make you cry."
A few moments later...
"No, Tony, please! Don't do this! I am begging you! Don't!"
"I am sorry, Aylin." He sighed dramatically. "But you gave me no choice."
He put the +4 card down, and in a matter of moments, I lost the battle I'd fought so hard and long for.
I clenched my eyes shut, allowing my pride to seep away as I admitted to the cold and bitter defeat.
"Okay I win. So according to the deal, you're coming to the party."
I scowled at the billionaire. "You cheated!"
"You're just a sore loser." He stood up, ruffling my hair teasingly as he began to walk away. "Remember to dress nice."
"Ah screw this." I muttered, clutching my jacket nervously as I began backing away, fully prepared to get the hell out of there when I was stopped.
"Aylin?"
Squeaking in fright, I turned before I saw who had called me.
"Oh, it's you, Rhodey." My shoulders dropped in relief. "You scared me."
The man raised an eyebrow. "You look like you're trying to escape."
"I am."
"Don't like parties?"
I shook my head. "I already disliked the idea, but this is my first time attending one."
He chuckled. "You can't say no to Tony."
"He said it was a small party." I whined. "But look at this! There's so many people."
"And you believed him?"
I pursed my lips, looking away sourly. "You make a good point."
"Well," he laughed, "now that you're here, better make the most of it."
As if.
"Oh!"
I followed his line of sight to see a man waving his arm in the air to catch his attention.
"That's our friend from uni." Rhodey looked back and smiled. "I'll see you around."
He quickly squeezed my shoulder, beginning to walk away which made me panic.
"No, wait."
Shit.
Frantic, I tried to walk in the direction he went, dodging left and right, but to no avail. Soon enough, I lost sight of him in the sea of people.
I deflated.
Great. What now?
With a sigh, I decided to retreat back to my corner, turning again when I bumped into someone.
