Chapter 38

There's gonna be a lot of POV changes so bare with me.

At school
Cheryl’s POV
I walk into the lounge with Toni, and she immediately spots Dalton and runs over to him and hugs him, I walk over to Heather and just watch how everyone looks confused.

"Guys, this is my best friend, Dalton," Toni announced.

"Are you sure they're just friends?" Heather whispered in my ear.

"First of all, never whisper in my ear again, and secondly Toni wouldn't lie to me," I answered.

I looked over at Toni introducing Dalton to all our friends, and she looked really happy, and that made me happy.

"Cherbear can I talk to you outside?" Heather asked.

"Why can't we talk here?" I retorted.

"Just, please come outside," she pleaded.

"Fine," I sighed, walking out, "What did you want to talk about Heather?"

"Us," she replied.

"In what respect?" I questioned.

"Romantically," she answered.

"Then there's nothing to talk about," I responded.

"What do you mean?" she inquired, looking at me with puppy dog eyes.

"Heather, I have a girlfriend who I love with all my being, and I would never do anything to hurt her, you and I are best friends that's it, if you can't handle that then we're not friends at all, I do love you Heather but in a platonic way," I explained, walking back into the lounge.

Toni's POV
Cheryl and Heather walked out of the lounge, but I didn't say anything because I trust Cheryl and she wouldn't cheat on me.

After introducing Dalton to everyone, I decided to tell some childhood stories so they could get to know him like I do and love him like I do.

"Dalton, do you remember that dog that scared the heebie-jeebies out of you?" I laughed.

"T, no," he chuckled.

"So Dalton and I would always see this dog when we came back from school, so Dalton decided 'Oh I'm gonna pet the dog'" I mocked.

"Oh my gosh, of all stories why this one Toni," he laughed, hiding the embarrassment.

"Anyways, he went to pet the dog and the dog started barking like really loud and jumping around, Dalton fell back nearly into the road, and I was laughing, not too hard but how you laugh when someone falls," I continued.

"Okay, we can stop the story there don't ya think T?" he asked, looking at me with pleading eyes.

"Oh, D, as your best friend it is my upmost duty to embarrass you," I laughed, "When I was done laughing I looked over at Dalton who was still on the floor and I saw a wet patch in his pants, and that's when I lost it I started cackling, and I was crying it was so funny, and ever since Dalton has been afraid of dogs," I finished.

"I think you'll fit right in," Archie smiled.

Everyone nodded in agreement.

After school
Dalton's POV
I was walking out of Pop's after having a nice lunch with Cheryl and Toni, Cheryl seems really nice, I'm happy Toni found someone who loves her for her.

I was suddenly grabbed and pulled into an alleyway next to the diner, the person grabbed me from behind and I couldn't see their face.

"I want you to do everything in your power to kill Toni Topaz," they ordered sternly.

"Toni's my best friend, I just got her back, why would I do that?" I retorted.

"I thought you would say something like that so I brought a little… persuasion," they laughed evilly.

I felt a pinch in my arm and looked down and saw that I was being injected with a black liquid, within seconds of being injected, my vision began to blur and everything went black.

Toni's POV
Dalton just left Pop's and Cheryl and I were still talking, we got up to leave and I saw a dark figure running from the corner of my eye, once we got outside, I noticed that Dalton's car was still there.

"TT are you okay?" Cheryl asked worriedly.

"I think Dalton's in trouble, his cars still here even though he just left," I explained.

I had a really bad feeling so I decided to call him. It went straight to voicemail. I tried once more and it actually rang.

I could hear his phone ringing, I ran to where the noise was coming from and I saw Dalton out cold with a needle sticking out of his arm, the inside of the needle was covered in a black liquid.

"Cheryl, come help me!" I called.

"Oh my god," she exclaimed walking over, "We need to get him to the hospital,"

"No we're taking him to my trailer, he will have a mental breakdown if he wakes up in a hospital," I sighed.

"On 3 we pick him up okay?" she stated.

"1...2…3, lift," I huffed.

We walked him to our car, we had a bit of a struggle holding him and opening the car door at the same time but we did it.

Toni's trailer
Cheryl's POV
Toni had not sat still since we got to her trailer Dalton was still knocked out on the couch, and Toni was pacing the entire trailer trying to think of who would do this.

"TT if you just sit down it might help you think," I sighed.

"He's new here, nobody knows him, why would someone do this?" she asked, frantically.

"Babe just calm down when he wakes up we will ask him okay?" I explained.

She nodded, and I brought her into a hug, I felt a wet patch forming on my shirt and I knew she was crying.

"Shhh baby it's okay," I cooed.

"I just got him back, Cher," she cried.

"I know baby I know," I sighed, kissing her head.

We heard shuffling and separated and looked over at the couch and Dalton was gone. Seconds later the door closed.

Toni ran out of the house and walked back in with her head down looking broken.

"Oh baby," I sighed walking over to her.

She practically jumped into my arms and just sobbed into my shoulder.

The rest of the night we just cried and cuddled.
