*LANCES POV*
"You really though you were doing this without me?" Pidge speeds up over the headset. I sigh in relief.
"They took him again I don't know how to get him without making a big scene." I say slowly and sneakily following the scuffing noises Keith makes as they drag him away.
"Give me one second." She says right before an alarm starts ringing through the whole ship.
"What's that?" I panic.
"It's just me don't worry. I set off their manufacturing alarm. They think the ships breaking so most of their muscle will be in the power room trying to fix it." She says proud of herself.
"I'm so glad you're on our side." I say laughing before picking up speed running after Keith. I caught them tossing him into a room before blocking the door with two men. The other left probably to handle the alarms. I considered my options but my body started moving before my mind could process. I was running at the full speed pinning one guy to the wall trying to rip the gun out of his hands. The other grabbed me from behind but I use it to my advantage. I push off the wall tossing both of us to the ground. I quickly get up punching him a few times before he lays a soling but tossing en to the ground. Before I knew it they were both on me holding me down. With the one free hand I have I reach for the gun while they repeatedly hit me in an attempt to keep me down. I push myself and grab onto the gun swinging it as hard as I could towards the guys. It hits one just right knocking him out. I role over getting up now that I had the freedom too so. The last guy does the same as we square up. I don't hesitate to kick him into the wall again this time I hold my arm against his neck trying to knock him out. He kneed next in the side making me drop to the ground again. He kicked me again. I wait for him to bend down to grab me when I head but him causing him to loose his balance. I grab the gun again this time finally hitting him hard enough he passed out like the other guy. I take a second to catch my breath before stumbling to the door. My side was burning in pain and I could feel my face swelling but I had to push through. Seeing Keith when I opened the door almost made me want to collapse to the ground.
"Lance. What happened?" He said panicked grabbing my face to see the damage.
"You should see the other guys." I say giving him a taste of his how medicine. He smiles shaking his head.
"Let's go home." I say grabbing his hand leaving him out of the room. As we run I look back at him smiling. For a moment there was nothing but him and I. No danger no fear. Just us. We made it halfway to the vent when guys in the dozens ran after us. We raced to the vent and they started shooting at us. I thought we were in the clear when I felt a bullet go through my stomach. I looked down not able to process the hole in my stomach.
"Lance." Keith shouts catching me before I fell. Things got blurry but I knew I had to stay away it was too important. He helped me crawl into the room and he barricaded the door behind us.
"It's okay it's okay." He says holding the wound covering his hands in blood. I felt my heart rate slow down.
"Come one we can make it it's going to be okay." He says helping me in the vents.
"You go first. If they follow us you need to get to the loin I'll distract them." He hesitates before agreeing knowing I would stay here to keep him safe. He crawls in and I follow right behind him. I see the light form outside and can almost see our freedom. Keith makes it out grabbing my hand helping me out. For a moment I though we had made it until an explosion from the vents sent us flying into the air. Keith was tossed into another part of the ship hard enough to dent the metal. I float off doing everything I can to get back to Keith. I felt helpless. I closed my eyes feeling myself through the lion in hopes it could come save us. Without a doubt the lion appeared flying towards me. I turn it away forcing him to save Keith first. The lion grabs Keiths unconscious body and made its way to me. I stumble inside as we fly away from the ship. I could hear other fighter jets shooting at us but I couldn't help focusing on Keith.
"Wake up." I say laying my head on his chest making sure he was still breathing.
"Keith wake up." I said starting to shake. I was bleeding out and didn't know what to do.
"Pidge. Come in Pidge." I cry into the headset.
"Lance what's wrong." She answers right away.
"We're on our way back but Keith isn't waking up. There was an explosion I- I don't know what to do." I push out.
"It's going to be okay allura is going to start a portal for you guys to get here sooner just hang in there." She says. Another explosion pushes the lion around sending us to the side. I grab onto Keith not letting him go. I pull him up so I was holding him in my arms trying to protect him as much as I could. The lion started to shake and I knew we made it into the portal. It didn't make me feel better because it's not worth is if Keith doesn't wake up. So focused on him I didn't notice how blurry my visions was and how much I was bleeding.
"Pidge we made it. I can't move please come help us." I say using every bit of energy I have. I felt the lion land and we were immediately greeted by the team running in to help us. Pidge and hunk grab Keith carrying him into the castle while Shiro helps me.
"You're shot!" He says not expecting it.
"Help me." I whisper not having enough energy to talk. He picks me up making me grunt in pain. He goes as fast as he can taking me to the healing pods. We passed by Keith lying on a table with everyone surrounding him.
"Wait." I say making Shiro stop. He notices why and walks me over to see Keith. I brush the hair out of his face unable to control myself my eyes start to water.
"He's alive. He's just unconscious you my dear should be with the way you look." Allura says referencing the bullet hole.
"Go take care of yourself. Keith will be okay." Pidge says begging me to rest. I grab Keiths hand and rest my forehead on his. I push every ounce of myself into him in hopes he could feel me pulling him back to us. Shiro pats me on the back making me leave Keiths side. I don't look away as Shiro leads me to the healing pods. He rests me inside and before he can close it I grab his arm stopping him.
"The second in strong enough you wake me up okay. I don't care how much I'm still hurt I just need to be by Keiths side when he wakes up." I say with a raspy and low voice.
"Okay." Shiro says upset by all this.
"Promise me" I said.
"I promise." He said back resting his hand on my shoulder in support.
"You did good today. I'm proud of you." He said before closing the door sending me to sleep.
-time jump-
I woke up to the sight of Shiro ready to catch me as I fell. I could still feel the pain in my side almost as much as I did when it happened. I saw my reflection in one of the pods and noticed I was still covered in marks.
"Take it easy. You're still healing but it should be manageable at this point." He says helping me up. I do feel stronger.
"Keith?" I ask getting my balance.
"Still out. Want to see him." He says. I agree and we walk down the hall to where Keith was. They had him on a medical bed covered in blankets. Everyone looks at me as I walk into the room.
"How do you feel?" Pidge asks. I grab my side still aware of the pain but I try to ignore it.
"Fine. How long had it been?" I ask.
"4 days." Hunk says. It took me a moment to process.
"Is he-" I start to say not wanting to have to ask.
"No, He's in a coma from the blast it's just a waiting game until his body is ready." Pidge says.
"Why didn't you put him in a pod?" I asked.
"Pods are for healing physical damage. Keiths damage is all mental. Only time will tell." Allura says getting up from the chair beside his bed. She motioned for me to sit down. I walk over and slowly lower myself into the chair still in pain. I grab his hand holding it in mine. I lay my head on the bed reliving every moment again. I couldn't just watch him slip away. I squeeze his hand wanting him to Wake up. I felt useless once again. I couldn't help myself but to climb onto the bed with him. I laid next to him wrapping him up in my arms hoping he could feel me. Time passed and I didn't move. Everyone peeled off slowly leaving the room.
"Come back to me." I whisper kissing him on the forehead.
"Please. Come back to me." I say again laying my head on the pillow above his. I run the hand through his hair doing anything I could think of to keep me sane. I heard his breath start to pick up and felt him twitch once or twice. I sit up looking him over not knowing if it was real or not. Slowly his eyes opened before closing and opening again. This time staying open to look around the room.
"Keith!" I say grabbing his hand again so he knew I was there. It took him a second before he tried to sit up.
"No don't Overdo it you're okay." I say making him stay laying down. I move over to the side of the bed so he could see me better. He turns his head looking me in the eyes. I smile uncontrollably.
"I'm so happy you're okay." I say rubbing my thumb over his hand. He stays quiet for a moment as his face starts to tighten. He looked confused.
"Where am I." He asked.
"The med bay on the castle." I tell him knowing he would he happy we made it home. He was quiet for a moment longer before he looked back at me.
