Chapter 13

This chapter is the third leg of the Quad marathon. It's terrain has a falling slope.  Caution the heart please. 

The chief phones the deputy chief to inform him to stand down until further notice. He then phones Jin. "Son, please think about what you're doing. you can't just walk in the Commissioner's office and threaten a law enforcement officer. Let me deal with this." "Is this the law protecting the law?" Jin asks but deep within, he doesn't really mean it.    "Jin, you are way out of line. I have never wavered on holding my colleagues accountable. I know you're pissed right now at me keeping this from you but let me do my fucking job." Jin immediately backs down from his hostility toward his godfather and ends the call. He informs Caso to reroute to his office. Jin goes to his office and is working but Bogum is still on his mind.

JK arrives at his office and is inundated with paperwork. He finishes up and decides to leave early. He stops by a supermarket to buy ingredients for seaweed soup he has been craving. He bends down for an item and when he stands up and turns around, Bogum is standing close to him. "You think sending Chief Jung after me would stop me?"   "Bogum just move on. I'm not worth you losing your sanity or your job." JK talks as he tries to get around Bogum who is blocking him. "I love you JK. I'm losing my marriage because of you."  "You love me Bogum? When were you going to tell me about Jesse?"   "When the time was right. She wasn't supposed to be there that day. It was supposed to be just you and me."   "Bogum, she was your wife and she was supposed to be there. It was me, who was out of place. I need to go. Move." Bogum doesn't move until he sees Erin. "I will see you again JK." Bogum says to himself when JK leaves out of the store.

JK makes it home and starts cooking. He laughs to himself because he doesn't really like seaweed soup but only craved it because Jin likes it. After he finishes cooking, he doesn't eat it but Erin does. "Is this your first time making this?" "Yeah, how is it?" "It tastes chef made. You really should eat some." "Maybe later." JK's monitor signals an incoming call, "Mr. Jeon, you have an incoming call. Caller Mrs. Bayung." "Answer with 10 seconds delay. Excuse me Erin. Enjoy the soup." Erin gives a thumbs up to JK while JK goes to his office to talk to Mrs. Bayung. "Hello Mr. Jeon. All is well with you I hope?" "Hello, Mrs. Bayung. Yes, all is well, and you?" "I am well. I was calling about the intern Kang Daniel." "Did he do something wrong?" "Of course not. I just want to thank you for sending him. On his first day, he bridged two programs together and I must say, I'm impressed. I'm sending the programs specs and documents to you now." "Thanks, I will go over them as soon as I get them." "Enjoy your evening Mr. Jeon." "The same to you, Mrs. Bayung." JK receives the information and looks at them. He smiles to himself and thinks 'Daniel might just be my successor.'

Jin finishes up his work and goes to his gym to work out. Every time he goes to his gym, JK crosses his mind. After working out, he showers and dresses and leave for work. He is craving seaweed soup. He stops by Jack's and eats lunch with Caso and Dino. Afterwards he leaves and goes home to prepare for the Doctor's Conference.

Ken arrives at Jin's Mansion. "Mr. Kim, Mr. Ken is here." Jin's house assistant tells him. Jin goes downstairs putting on his suit coat. "A tie." "Excuse me." "Aren't you forgetting your tie?" "Is it a tie event?" "Yes." Ken says with a smile." Although Jin dislikes wearing ties, he goes back upstairs to get a tie. He returns and is about to tie it when Ken approaches him. "I got it." You were never good at tying your tie." "Hence the reason I never wear one." "Jin turns his head to avoid eye contact with Ken who is looking directly at him. Ken finishes and steps back. "Maybe you should start wearing ties, it fits you well. Ken says while admiring all of Jin. Jin smiles. "Shall we go?"
