Four a.m is always a great time to wake up, especially this close to the school starting. I get dressed and grab my flashlight before heading outside. I see my boys loading all the cattle in the trailers and shutting the doors. Jamie walks up to me and gives me the usual good morning hug.
"If we leave now, we'll get back earlier," I say
"K, I'll go tell everyone that it's time to roll out," Jamie tells me
It must've been a quick tell because the next thing I know, the trailer lights are flashing.

I send a quick text to the three truck drivers saying to make sure they have water and phone chargers with them. I clip my phone on its holder and press the start button on my truck. Pressing the gas peddle, we're on our way to Houston.
Alex
I wake up at 8 in the morning and roll out of bed before heading downstairs. I find mom cooking breakfast with the news playing on the tv.
"You gonna go visit Lauren today?" Mom asks
"She's not there today," I reply not looking up
"Well, then we should go school shopping," Mom tells me
"That is Monday isn't it," I say with a groan
"Yeah, so we need to go shopping," Mom says
We finish eating breakfast and then head into town to go shopping.
Lauren
It's around two in the afternoon when we get to the sale barn and unload the cattle. I get the paperwork finished while Josh, Jamie, and Mac are visiting. Suddenly my phone rings and I see Alex as the caller ID.
"What's up," I say
"How far away are you from home?" Alex asks
"11 hours," I reply without a second thought
"What!" Alex exclaims
"Why are you calling anyway, I'm busy?" I ask as I continue reading
