Iniquitous orange sparkles danced around the dark room. Carson's smirk grew wider with each passing minute. He seemed certain that victory would be his, earning discomfort within Angelo's heart. The commotion from the mortal world disappeared steadily along the echoes of their soft nervous breathes. Angelo forced himself to take a step forward, but as he lifted his leg, the orange sparkles dragged his feet down like the North pole of a magnet attracting the presence of the South pole. He grunted at the sight for the sparkles reminded him of how much he hated glittery materials in his home. Turning his head to the side, Angelo let a sigh of relief to escape from his lips when he saw Ansel unharmed.
Carson stood proudly in front of them. His arms crossed with satisfaction, eyes lingered around the confinement to profess his victory. Itching to wipe the smile off the elder's face, Angelo forced himself to take a step forward. A sparkling orange line reached out greedily, dragging Angelo's feet down. He grunted, fists formed into a tight ball and gritted his teeth together. The veins at the corner of his temple swell in anger. With Carson preying on them, Angelo prepared himself for all the possible tricks Carson could pull off. Weeks, it had been weeks, yet Carson's magic seemed undeniably strong. He must have mutilated someone before coming to Lily's. Jon's grunts filled the void as he dragged his feet up only to stumble backwards with his dagger almost slipping out of the hiding spot.
"Angelo," said Carson casually, lifting his fingers up as he studied the slowly disappearing magic and sniffed in the fuggy scent. "I knew you would come to rescue your precious little mortal guardian here. You just can't keep yourself away from all these, can't you? Always trying to be a hero. Looks like Jonathan has taken up most of your traits. Though, I didn't know that stupidity still lingers within you. How can you bring your precious girlfriend along with this dangerous mission? Is this a new trick you mastered? To send souls back to Hell? Hm?"
Without letting the audience to answer, Carson gasped, covering his mouth pretentiously. He cackled, arranging his steps towards the empty couch next to lifeless Lily and slumped himself down like a jiggly jelly. He crossed his legs, staring at Angelo who studied Lily's body. Carson saw the younger glared at him and he chuckled. Lips curved maliciously as he licked them before gasping, pointing his fingers in rhythm. His index finger atop the middle, clicking them multiple times.
"Ah," he hummed, closing his eyes, letting them swim in darkness for a second. "I forgot, baby brother. You do not have any access back to Hell yet. You can't simply go in now. Not that you have a key. My bad. I don't mean to remind you about the pain of your loss. Gone like the feathers you shed when you fell."
"He..."
Before Jonathan could finish him, Angelo silenced the younger. He shook his head lightly, silencing Jonathan. There were matters better left unsaid and unknown to Carson and Angelo, for one prefer to keep it that way in the meantime. Carson had always been the head of a manipulation. The one who cause destructions, but never want to admit it. His words are always more poisonous than his magic. Anyone who does not know him will fall for his sweet tricky remarks. Angelo's hands snaked behind his back pocket. His fist tightened against the hilt of his dagger. Despite the clear idea of him not being able to move, Angelo knew he would gain satisfaction if he could puncture Carson's body with cuts and holes. He simpered. Lowering his gaze, Angelo studied the markings on the floor only to realize that Carson used olden magic to seal their feet only the ground. It was used to prevent the angels and guardians who had to undergo trial from escaping.
"Carson, let Lily go," Jonathan spoke up bravely as he straightened his back. "You have problems with us, not the mortals. Let them go."
Carson snickered, rising from his seat in one swift movement. He clicked his tongue, humming a soft diabolical tune and arranged his steps slowly towards Lily's limp figure. Stopping his tracks behind Lily, Carson lifted his head to stare at the three figures by the door. He smirked, seeing how tense they were especially Ansel. He could almost see her flinch, but the energy radiating from her disgusted him. Brushing the tip of his nose, he tapped his fingers onto Lily's shoulders, running those long fingers across her spine. He breathed in her scent, taking into account every inch of her heroic cells. It was then a soft grunt escaped Lily's lips. Her head lifted, eyes unfocused and she blinked multiple times, trying to adjust her sight from the blinding lamp above her. Carson laughed, looking at Jonathan.
