Chapter 8 - Lilith

After dropping our dishes off at the kitchen and saying hello to Adrian, Ava leads me to the garden in the backyard.

We slowly walk through the rows of flowers, making sure to only pick three, and admire the bees that come to pollinate them.

"A bee! Bunny, there's a bee!" Ava says as she runs to me.

"It's fine, Ava. It's just doing its job, please don't bother it." I say and she slowly nods.

As we continue to walk, we see a monarch butterfly laying on one of the Roses. I hold a finger to my lips as Ava looks at me and we slowly walk up to it. When we get there, we stand for a couple minutes and admire its blue wings.

It flies away and Ava frowns. "Don't worry, it'll come back." I say and I run my fingers through her hair.

Vincent was a little bit behind us, but still close enough to grab us if anything happened. He was holding a blanket for us so we could sit in the grass. As we finish walking through the garden, we decide to lay in the field of grass.

"Vincent! Give me the blanket!" Ava says as she runs back to him.

"Ava! Manners please!" I say and she looks back at me.

"May I please have the blanket?" she asks again and Vincent nods.

She takes it and runs back to me, handing me the blanket. I lay it out for us, then lay down and Ava places her head on my stomach.

We sat in silence for a while and I could tell Ava had gone down for a nap. I don't move, instead I play with her hair and look at the clouds. I hear something running through the trees, and I look up expecting it to be the bunny again.

Except this time, it wasn't. It was a man dressed in all black running full speed at me and Ava.

"Ava! Wake up, come on we got to go!" I say as I shake her. She lifts her head to see the man and she takes off.

I'm running right behind her when I feel someone grab my hair and pull

me back. Letting out a scream, I turn my head and try to make them let go.

"Bunny!" Ava says, running back towards me.

"No, Ava! Go find Vincent, run! I'm right behind you I promise." I say and she looks back before nodding.

I hear her calling out for Vincent before I feel something on my neck. It pinched my skin, and I feel my neck roll forward right before my eyes shut.

I open my eyes, blinking then multiple times. I try moving my hands to realize their tied behind my back and I start to breathe fast.

"Calm down, Lilith. We're not going to hurt you." A voice says, causing me to look up.

The voice came from a man with short curly black hair, wearing all black. He started walking closer to me and I leaned back as far as I could in the chair.

"You're not the one we're after, anyways. We're after De Luca." he says.

De Luca? I don't even know a De Luca.

"You see, Riot De Luca has taken something very important from very important people. And you just so happen to be his latest fling." he says and she squats infront of me.

"I don't know who you're talking about." I say.

"Then why have pictures of you and him together been surfacing? There's already a bounty on your head." the man asks.
