Katherine and Drake were both still annoyed at each other that they did not mind Ethan's question.
"Anyone? Tell me what's going wrong?" Ethan asked again.
Still, they did not answer. It made Ethan shout. "Now!" Chris and I had no clue as usual.
Finally, Katherine gave a heavy breath and turned around from the wall and faced us. "We are having an endless discussion about whether to use a catalyst or not?"
"For what you need a catalyst, Kat?" Ethan asked frustrated.
"To stop her from exploding!!" Drake suddenly faced us and shouted pointing at me.
" Me from what?" I asked completely taken back.
"Exploding?" Chris too was shocked.
"Explain both of you," Ethan said worried and stern at the same time.
"The day Olisen decided to bring Elizabeth back home he wanted to make sure that there aren't any complications during her transformation if she agrees to go along with it. So he entrusted us and our biochemical team to go through your transformation and apply the same theory to Elizabeth's but per the properties of fire, not water. So we did. But..." Kat said.
"But, in the case of Ethan, he possessed water element, unlike fire it did not have any heat activating capacity in it. So his body somehow fixed itself or altered it to function its metabolisms properly according to the habitat of water. In comparison to water, fire isn't something that can be manipulated easily. If we don't find a way to calm it down during the initial stage of transformation, the heat could build up deep inside you and eventually make you...explode." Drake finished worried.
Again, I felt like running away anywhere but here. The thought of must I go through this transformation has become often now. Explode? Seriously! I would have traded anything for peace but unfortunately, my reality at this moment demanded something opposite to peace. Chaos, never-ending chaos.
"Tell me you have found a solution!"Christina blared.
Katherine said with concern "We are trying our level best to come up with one, but..."
"No buts! Come up with something fast otherwise Elizabeth's not going through with the transformation." Ethan ordered.
"I can take decisions for myself," I said still. "Does Olisen know about this?" I asked Katherine and Drake. They both nodded instantaneously.
"And still he asked Elizabeth to go along with her transformation." Christina scoffed in disbelief.
"He was sure that we would find a way and trust us we will." Katherine held my hand and desperately assured.
"What if you don't?" I asked back.
"Then we call off the transformation," Drake said.
"How far have you gone with creating a stabilizer? Talk us through it." Ethan said still with anger.
"We have almost completed in producing it but the only problem is that the solution isn't fast enough to spread through her veins and contain the heat from increasing," Katherine said walking back to her table dumped with test tubes, writings, gloves, and many more lab things.
"That's why I suggested that we add the catalyst to speed up the process, but Kat says it might throw off the balance of the equation with the other compounds," Drake said uncertainly.
"Is it possible to provide a catalyst without messing with the equation? You guys are wizards I am sure if you can produce a flying horse and make a portal out of a letter, I am sure you can do this too." I said dreading thinking about me exploding into pieces.
"That's it!" Katherine shouted excitedly. "We are wizards Drake! Why are you so dumb?" Drake eyed at her confused. So did all.
"What is going on your mind Kat?"Ethan asked.
"The catalyst will put off the balance as you all know because of it's nature and properties, but what if the catalyst is not a compound so, it doesn't mess with the other ingredients in the mixture?" Katherine said taking out the red substance from Drake's hands and pouring it into the sink nearby."Kat?!" Drake said surprised. "There's isn't any substance in this whole world that isn't a compound or doesn't have its chemical properties."
"What if it isn't a compound?" Katherine said excitedly exhilarated.
"You are saying...." I had a slight idea of what she was thinking about.
"Magic!" Katherine said beaming. Exactly! "Magic isn't really a compound but it does contain certain properties that act accordingly and won't mess up the balance too."
"You are saying we infuse magic into the mixture?" Ethan asked. Katherine nodded elated.
"Yes! You are brilliant Kat." Drake said quietly analyzing what Katherine just told. "With the correct calibration and the right amount of magic-infused we could do it." He too seemed elated.
"Told you, you can trust us." Katherine grinned.
"We should give it a try to see whether infusing the magic would create any hodgepodge," Drake said hurriedly getting another substance from a box. It was in a small glass tube and the color was a very bright black. I know there isn't a color called bright black but this was sparkling like it contained diamonds in it.
"So this is the mixture?" Christina asked.
"Yes," Katherine said still busy in taking the solution carefully from Drake.
"What does it contain?" I asked looking at the gross sparkling black substance.
"Oh, it contains various things. For example, it consists of a highly concentrated amount of sodium hydrogen acetate that acts as a neutralizer and drops of liquid nitrogen to freeze the explosion in your body....if it ever takes place." Drake said continuing to focus on dissolving various kinds of elements into the already prepared black thing.
"Hey, what's the black thing?" Christina asked.
"It is actually molten lava rocks." Katherine said helping Drake.
"Why is it sparkling then?" I asked grossing out when they poured it into a glass cup.
"Because it has powdered diamonds." Katherine said calmly. I was right. It does have diamonds!
"Powdered what? Are you saying you just simply powdered the hardest compund on earth?" Christina asked dumbstruck.
"Yes. Diamond is a bad conductor of heat so it ensures that when the mixture is injected in your body cells it doesn't get affected by fire." Drake said looking up at Chris and I and laughed.
"Wow." Chris and I were in awe.
Ethan was surprsingly silent. I don't know if he was worried or angry, he just stood there with his arms crossed and stared at whatever Katherine and Drake where trying to do. I simply went up to him and stood beside and immediately he his stern hard face came to ease.
"They will figure it out, won't they?" I asked looking ahead.
"I hope so, they are the best minds we have out here. But if they don't then we are most definetely calling off the transformation. It doesn't matter if I get my full powers." Ethan sighed.
"I am sure they will work it out." I ensured. But I wasn't entirely sure about it, neither were Katherine and Drake. They were rushing all around the place busy trying to produce something. Ethan, Christina and I looked at them in wonder, atleast Christina and I did. Ethan was still very much worried about the possible impending danger.
