I never knew that I would end up in a place where I have to fight for my survival. The reality that lay before me was a whole nightmare that I wished I were back home doing all the works that I loathed every single day. But no matter how much I try to imagine that this is probably just a dream but I could not deny the cold fact that was right in front of my eyes.
"Are you ready?" Mrs.Farella asked playing with her fingers and her eyes wide opened.
I felt numb at that question. NO! I wasn't ready! I am so not ready to light myself on fire. Somewhere in the back of my head, I hated myself for agreeing to do the transformation back then, what was I thinking? Why did I have to envision myself as a dumb savior and not listen to Peter and Theo when they first warned me? I could even hear Theo saying, "I told you so." It's ringing in my ears.
"No." My mouth blurted out the word before I could realize I said it out loud. Mrs.Farella looked at me confused. "I am not doing it," I said again this time conscious of what I was saying.
"You agreed to Olisen, didn't you? Did you or did you not?!" Mrs.Farella said gritting her teeth in anger.
"Ye--yes but..." I stammered looking at the burning rage in her eyes.
"She then discussed with us already and she told she wouldn't do it." Ethan suddenly lied, "We were about to tell Olisen but he was away."
Mrs.Farella glared at him, "Well, I don't really care about her consent, she is going through it." She walked away laying out her order.
"You can't force her!" Drake defended.
"I can if I want to," Mrs.Farella said in a very dominant way. "Leave the girl and lock the rest up, Osckar." She commanded and walked again to the farther end of the table that lay at the center of the magnanimous room.
The annoying man from before, whose name is now known as Osckar came forward following his order to lock the rest up. Osckar took his first few steps when Katherine ran towards her mother at full speed, she grabbed her using both her tied hands and held her hands tight, and said, "I reverse it." She shouted at the top of her lungs. I stood there shocked as to what she was trying to do. But Drake and Ethan as usual understood her, before anyone could take control of the chaos that was going on Ethan went up to the table and grabbed a knife and threw it at Drake and he effortlessly caught it with his tied hands and cut Ethan's rope and Ethan quickly his and mine. Osckar and the rest of the guards that he was with were stunned at how fast they managed to do this. One of the guards hurriedly went towards another small opening that connected it to the door that we first came through.
"He is going to bring the rest of them, we must hurry," Drake said.
"But we can't fight them off without your powers," I said.
"We got our permission, Liz, the Permissio spell can only be reversed if the member from the same bloodline reverses it, which Katherine did right now." Ethan briefed quickly speaking.
I looked over at Katherine who was busy fighting her mom away from us. Oskar on the other hand did not flinch a single second. The three of us stood facing him while stood serene eyeing at us intensely. Ethan and Drake stood on either side and me in the middle, I was afraid thinking what was going to happen at that moment, I looked at both of them and their eyes were only on Osckar who did not seem to be intimidated even a bit. His body was stiff and his head held high he just stood there. Both of the boys by my side looked at each other before I could analyze their move, the next second I could see them running at Oskar with full force. Ethan wasn't able to use his power as they were no water surrounding us within the distance he could control it. It all depended on Drake and Katherine's powers against her own mother. I felt helpless standing there guilty while the two boys fought Oskar who doesn't seem to be afraid at all. He dodged every single magic that Drake cast at him, he managed both Ethan's physical attacks and Drake's magical attacks simultaneously. I then realized there was no way we could get out of here alive. Katherine fought her mother with her hands tied, but that did not refrain herself from giving her best, though she was seriously hurt. Watching them fight their all out and putting their lives on the line for me, again made me feel like a liability. I did not want anymore sacrifice, I did not want to feel like I am someone that must be preserved, I am not that person. I can't stand watching someone getting hurt over and over again just because of me. I had to do something, something probably reckless if that means that I could stop them from giving their life away so easily. Ethan and Drake despite not being outnumbered were miserably failing compared to the skills and magic Oskar possessed, Katherine and her mom were both equally at each other's throats.
I ran up to Drake who was laying on the floor beaten up and tried his very best to get back up, he thought I was going to help him back to his feet. He was surprised when I dug my hand inside his pocket and took out the bottle that contained the solution that stopped me from exploding during my transformation.
He was dazed and shocked at my sudden move, "Wha--what are you doing?" He managed to say, "What is right." I told back and then got him up to his feet. Ethan who was so intent on fighting Osckar glanced over at me and Drake, he was taken aback when his eyes lay on the bottle that was in my hands. His eyes were fixed on the bottle that he got distracted from his fight, Osckar took this an opportunity and hit Ethan in his face with a powerful smash. Thud. He fell on the floor. Drake and I ran up to him, Katherine and Mrs.Farella stopped and looked at us. Katherine ran up to us in a dash.
"Ethan!" I shouted and jerked him hardly. With all the blood on almost every part of his body, I felt pain all over mine for a moment. "Get up, please." I shrieked as tears slowly embraced my cheeks.
Drake slowly sat beside me and put a hand over my shoulder, "He will be okay." He whispered and I could sense a lot of anger and frustration in his eyes seeing his friend who is no less than a brother to him.
He got up raged and yelled, "What do you want from us?!" His neck veins popped out, his injuries too were getting worse.
Katherine looked at her mother with pleading eyes, she kneeled and begged in silence but that did not make her own mother's cold heart warm. Mrs.Farella just scoffed at her and said, "You are weak just like your father."
I could hear Drake yelling back at her, and Katherine still kneeling on the floor sobbing but that all were just muffled sounds to my ears. All I could see was my own brother laying on the floor unconscious and all because of me. I couldn't stop the tears from flowing down, I was almost broken at a certain point thinking maybe if I had just agreed to do it just a few minutes before I wouldn't have to face a situation where my brother fought for being alive. I wiped my tears and picked up the bottle that I put down and stood up. I knew this was the right thing to do, it has to be.
"I am doing it."
