Summer breezes with peaceful wind, strong smell of coffee from the shop. Thank god summer holidays were starting from tomorrow. I sat with my face buried in a book and a piece of half eaten chocolate cake on the table.

Star tattoo on my right hand, hair let loose and dancing on the rhythm of the wind, my hands were moving here and there underlining quotes in my book.

A few minutes later the door banged open and three teens rushed in with their school bags, turning all the heads towards them.

"Liz, where have you been all day? You did not come to school either!" said Christina. She was short and lean, with short hair almost up to her chin. She stared at me with her big doey eyes.

"I took a day off, Christina. I was feeling sick so I thought I could come over to the coffee shop to read my novel in peace." I said pressing on the word peace looking at all of them.

"Oh really? Isn't this your another plan of bunking school?" smirked Peter with a grin on his face.

He was tall with dark hair, a pleasant face and a mischievous look. If people saw us together they could immediately think we are siblings and not because we are alike, it's because we bicker all the time.

"Shut up Peter, I am not like you who would fake a hairline fracture just to escape the SATs." I said mocking.

"So what happened in school today? Was it fun?"

"Nah it was the same. But we did have fun during our lunch hour" Christina.

"What happened?" I asked. Nothing special happens in the lunch hour except for the boring same old hamburger that we get.

"It...It...Was...Was" Christina bursted into laughter. She laughed so hard that her stomach began to hurt.

"Ask, ask Theo he was the one who saw it first" she said holding her stomach and laughing hard.

I turned around to a boy standing with his arms crossed. He had the perfect outlook that any teen boy should have; he had a short brownie black hair with thick eyebrows and a kind yet funny face.

"Yeah, it was too funny" said Theo." Liz you know the girl Amber from our school who makes fun of all the smaller kids' right?" I nodded.

"She fell down in a bucket of garbage while she was bragging about how big her home is. And the most funny part is that she was tripped by the smaller kids" said Theo laughing.

It was funny but I didn't laugh as hard as they were. Amber is one of the richest girls in our school. She brags how rich she is almost the whole day. Well, every high school must have one of these kinds, right?

"Ok. Come on guys we have to be at Lixy's house by six" I said as I offered the rest of the chocolate cake to Pete which he gobbled up seconds.

"Oh, yeah. Thank god you remembered me Liz, I almost forget about that" said Theo. "I still have to pick up my suit from the dry cleaner, so I will see you guys straight at the party then ".

Theo waved good bye and made his way out.

"So I guess it's just the three of us" said Chris sitting down on a chair with a sigh. She always liked having us together.

Christina had a bad childhood, though said she is happy now but she still fears her past. She lost her parents at the age of eleven. I mean it's not that easy growing in a foster home.

"So did any of you guys buy any gifts for Lixy?" said Peter breaking the silence that was floating around us.

"Yeah I did buy a present for her". I said proud of what I had bought.

"Please don't tell me it is a novel" said Chris laughing.

"Ugh Chris. I...I did buy her one of my favorite novels" I said laughing.

"Really Liz?" Said Peter staring at me in a funny way.

"Oh come on. You guys knew Lixy and I share a taste for books".

"Ok whatever.  Peter and I still have to buy our presents why don't you come with us?" asked Christina.

I was not busy and I can't continue reading my book in this chaos so I decided to join them.
