CHAPTER THIRTY-NINE

David left soon after that conversation and Harry walked in a half-hour later, looking and acting exactly how Faustus had. Remembering David's words, none of them spoke to either boy until they spoke first, which happened to be the next morning.

The Heads of House of the friends and family of those in the hospital wing informed them vaguely of what had happened after breakfast, which led to them all bursting into the room. Of course, Angelina and Alicia went straight to Olivia.

"Oh my, Liv, what happened?" Alicia asked.

"We just read something in the Daily Prophet about You-Know-Who gaining access to the Ministry last night," Angelina said. "You weren't involved in that, were you? We just noticed that you were gone last night, the timeline fits-"

"Guys," Olivia said, holding up her hand to stop them from saying any more, "I assure you, you will get all the answers to your questions soon, but right now, I just don't feel like talking about it."

"Oh. Okay. Yeah, we get it, that's all right."

"We just wanna know if you're okay," Alicia said.

"Yes, I'm okay," Olivia said, giving them a reassuring smile. "Just tired is all. I didn't get much sleep, but then again, what's new, right?"

"Yeah," Angelina laughed.

"Oh, and not to bring up the Daily Prophet again, but," Alicia said, "Fudge was in it, he called You-Know-Who 'Lord Thingy', and I don't know, I just thought that was really funny." She put a hand to her mouth to help suppress her giggles.

Olivia laughed too. "Yeah, that is pretty funny," she agreed.

The visitors weren't allowed to stay for long as they usually weren't in the hospital wing, and soon they were all left to their own devices again. Olivia had seen Faustus speaking to Rosalia earlier and figured since he felt okay enough to speak, she would go to him.

"Hey," she said, sitting on the end of his bed. "How are you feeling?"

He shrugged. "I don't know, to be honest," he answered. "I've been trying to ignore it. Talking to Ro helped, but... I don't know, it's a lot. I mean... I kinda feel guilty for feeling this bad, you know? Yeah, I was close to him and he was my uncle and all, but he really was the last bit of family Harry had left. I just feel like I shouldn't be feeling like this when I've got plenty more family to go home to, and Harry has to go back to his aunt and uncle's place, and you already know how they treat him..."

"I get what you mean, Faustus, but look... your feelings are just as valid as Harry's, all right? I know you've got more family left than he does, but not on your dad's side. Sirius was the last bit of your dad left, and I know you enjoyed getting to know that side of your family, no matter how cruel they were. With your mum, I know it's different, because she had all these siblings and they're all still alive and in your life, you can hear about her and see pictures of her whenever you want, but it's not like that with your dad and you're allowed to feel sad about that just as much as Harry is."

N.E.W.T.s were pretty much exactly like O.W.L.s for Olivia. She worked herself up with nerves and studied constantly in the days leading up, but found that it was not as bad as she had made it out to be and by the end of them, she was sure she had not failed.
