Chapter 27

I didn't edit again OOPSIES

I'm dissapointed in myself

Ashley's POV

I looked at Payton's hand sitting comfortably on Serenity's knee and quickly looked back up, in an attempt to keep my composure.

The rest of lunch went on and Payton's hand didn't move, and eventually serenity put her hand on his.

A week went by and I found myself thinking about that lunch period again.

I told myself the entire period that there was nothing to be upset about. I continued to convince myself that I didn't want a relationship with him, but I knew that I still had the same feelings for him. The problem was, I didn't even know how to address how I felt.

Sure, there was occasional flirting between us, but it was like everytime I blinked he somehow got lightyears closer to Serenity. I wanted to just fall for him again and again, but I knew it would end up hurting me more.

It was after school on monday and I was waiting for everyone to come over when I got a knock on the door. Angelica and I both raced to the door, but Angelica tripped over her own leg and stumbled to the ground, giving me the lead. I dashed over to the door and opened it with a smile, turning back to Angelica, "I won bitch. Suck my dick."

"1. You don't have a dick 2. If you did that would be insest" She laughed.

I turned back to the actual door to reveal Serenity standing in the doorway.

"Hi!" She smiled.

"Yo?" I muttered more like a question as I moved to the side of the doorway so she could enter the house.

She wasn't invited, yet, she's here again.

She stepped into the house beaming.

Why is this bitch always happy?

We all walked over to the living room and sat down on the couch.

"You're here super fast," Angelica muttered.

I was beginning to think that Payton and I were the only ones who liked her. At some point, Angelica ended up telling Brent what happened and he was not very chill about it. He wouldn't even talk to Payton for three whole days, let alone sit next to him for 5. And he hasn't said a single word to Serenity. She tried talking to him before and he straight up sticked his nose up, crossed his arms, turned around, and walked away. I had to stop myself from bursting out laughing at the time.

Brent was one of the most dramatic people I knew and damn it was entertaining. Watching how he acts was like watching an animated character showing emotions sometimes and it could be the funniest thing.

"Yeah I live two houses down."

Of course she lives near me.

"How did I not know that," I looked at her confused.

"Never asked, I guess," She laughed.

I chuckled slightly and texted Cole to ask where everyone was because Lily was supposed to drive everyone.

Ash: Yo where you at?

Cole: Your driveway

Cole: We just got here lmao

Ash: Oh well good timing serenity is here apparently

Cole: what?

Cole: Are you kidding

Ash: Nope either Payton invited her or she invited herself ig

Cole: I-

Ash: Its whatever

I put down my phone and walked back to the front door to meet everyone there. I opened the door to reveal everyone with irritated expressions.

"Is something wrong?" I raised my eyebrows in confusion.

"I uh..." Cole started, "Is serenity still here?"

"Yeah she's in the living room with Ang, why?" My face twisted in confusion.

Tessa took my wrist and pulled me outside and Lily closed the front door.

"Well out with it," I snapped. It was irritating enough that they were being so weird, but now they pulled me out of the damn house.

YOU DID THIS....FOR WHAT???

"Well..um," Cole cleared his throat, "When we pulled into your driveway, I got your text and I said to Payton 'Did you really invite serenity again?' and he said 'Yeah why not' and I kind of went off on him." He muttered.

"Well I'm sorry I thought we were fucking friends with her!" Payton threw his hands in the air in frustration.

"But you didn't even ask and it's not your house!" Lily yelled back.

"Guys, it's fine I have no problem with her being here," I interrupted.

"Ashley he isn't being fair to you this isn't cool!" Brent interjected.

"Brent there's nothing wrong with him inviting Serenity! I like her!" I said trying to calm everyone down, but no one seemed to listen and they continued to bicker instead.

I continued to reassure everyone that it was okay, but they wouldn't stop fighting.

"Well I'm sorry that Ashley over here can't fucking get over that I'm moving on" Payton yelled back, ignoring my statement.

Everyone went silent.

My facial expression dropped. I had stayed positive the entire time, but he completely disregarded that. I had literally defended him and he still pinned this on me.

I watched as anger rose in everyone's faces as Tessa walked over and slapped Payton in the face, leaving a large red mark on his face.

She walked over to me and grabbed my wrist attempting to pull me into the house as everyone else but Payton went in. I didn't budge. I was defending him and serenity. Why would he say something like that?

Tessa tried tugging my arm again but i shook her off and looked up at Payton, "I want to make this clear," I looked up at him, "I have done absolutely nothing to sabotage whatever fling you have with Serenity. I was the one here who was supporting you and you went after me for something that wasn't even true....nice job Payton" I pressed my lips together to create a line and started to turn around.

"I guess it won't be a fling anymore because I'm asking her to be my girlfriend." He said blankly.

I looked back at him as i felt a slight pain in my heart, "I hope she says yes," I gave a sad smile and turned back towards the door, "I want you to be happy."

Last line kinda hit, owwie

OH! Also have you started school yet? And if you have, online or in person?

I started 2 weeks ago and my school is making us do online big sad. I miss people even though I hate human beings-💀
