Chapter 41

Ashley's POV

It was about three days before Christmas and the Christmas party. School had just ended and I was walking out of school with Payton and we were heading towards his car.

"Do you want to come over to my house today?" He asked.

"I can't," I frowned, "I have plans already." The 'plans' that I was referencing was I was going to find a gift for Payton for secret santa, and I was going to give him a normal present too.

"Aw," He frowned, "What plans?"

"I'm just going shopping with Angelica for a sisters' day," I answered on the spot.

I guess I'm dragging Angelica to come with me now.

"Can you come over tomorrow then?" He pleaded.

"Yes Payt," I laughed.

"Yayyyy," He celebrated.

He's cute.

We got into his car and he brought me to my house. As I opened the car door to exit he leaned over and kissed my cheek. I smiled at him warmly before stepping out.

"I'll see you tomorrow, Payt."

"Bye Ash."

I closed the car door and made my way into the house. Fortunately, Angelica was already home. I could tell because of her shoes by the door.

"ANGIE COME DOWNSTAIRS WE'RE GOING SHOPPING!" I yelled.

"WE ARE?" She yelled in return.

"YES NOW GET YOUR ASS DOWN HERE!"

A couple moments later, I watched her sluggishly walk down the steps.

"We're going Christmas shopping. Get your shoes on," I said.

"Oh, who do you have for secret santa?" She asked.

"Payton," I answered.

"Oh, that's lucky. I have Lily. I think I'm going to get her leggings because she's always talking about how she only has athletic clothes for the summer," She responded, "While we're out I'm probably going to get something for Brent too. Is that okay?"

"Yeah I was going to get an extra gift for Payton as a normal present so yeah I have no problems with you getting something for Brent."

"Okay, whose car are we taking?" She questioned.

"Yours?" I suggested.

"Sounds good," I nodded as Angelica slipped on her shoes and grabbed her car keys.

"Okay where to first?" Angelica asked as we wandered the corridors of the mall.

"I wanted to get a chain for Payt, so I was thinking the jewelry store," I replied as we turned the corner.

"Alright, but can we go to the shoe store next? I want to get Brent a new pair of vans. He's been complaining for weeks about needing new ones," She rambled.

We walked down the halls and to the jewelry store. I spent some time looking through the glass cases when I came across a chain that I thought was perfect for him. It was silver with a small dangling dragon charm at the end of it.

This is the one.

I waved over an employee and pointed at the item.

"How much is that chain?" I asked the woman.

"That one runs at $250," She answered.

Ouch, my bank account is going to be in a whole new world of hurt after this.

"I'll take it," I sighed. The woman nodded and took it out of the case. She brought it over to the register and I paid for the chain.

Make my pockets hurt....

Make...my...pockets hurt

"Wow you spent a lot on him," Angelica widened her eyes.

"He deserves every penny of it," I responded as I glanced down at the small delicate bag that I held in my hand.

"Ew," She cringed.

"You're ew," I retorted.

"Whatever, I need to go get Brent his shoes," She rolled her eyes.

I nodded and followed her to the shoe store, which she spent wayyy too long in looking for a new pair of vans for Brent.

After we left, we went to a clothing store. Angelica went to the women's section to get leggings for Lily, while I went to the men's section. I found two pairs of sweatpants and two hoodies. One of the pairs of sweatpants was for me, and likewise with one of the hoodies, but the other items were for Payton. When I made my way to the checkout line, I saw Angelica already at the register. I shot her a quick wave and she gave me a closed-mouth smile.

When I got to the front of the line, I paid for my items and walked to the exit of the store where Angelica was waiting for me. We left the mall together and drove back home. When we arrived at home, I hid Payton's gift under some of my clothes in the bottom drawer in my wardrobe and chilled out in my room for most of the day.

Okay so this chapter was so boring I'm sorry-

I feel like my writing for this book has just sucked lately
