"What?!?" I shot my head up from the ground which caused a slight pain in my neck.
"I'm gonna fucking kill him," Cole said through clenched teeth.
"Payton, I'm gonna need you to move like right now," I said angrily as I failed to get up from underneath him. He got off and I quickly sat up, "He did WHAT?!?"
"I'm gonna fucking kill him!" Cole repeated, even louder this time.
"Guys calm down we weren't technically official, so I guess he didn't actually cheat," She trailed off.
"Okay then when I beat him to death with the blunt end of a hammer I didn't actually mutilate him," Tessa smiled innocently.
"Tessa you need to chill out," Lily sighed.
"Like hell I will! Who's coming with me to murder this man?!?" She shouted. Like clockwork, the whole raised their hands except Lily.
"It's decided then, we're cold-bloodedly murdering him," I smiled scornfully and started walking over to the basement steps.
"Ashley I swearrrr," Lily grabbed my upper arm.
"Ugh, just let us kill him Lily," I squinted at her.
"That's gonna be a no," She answered.
"It's not like you still have feelings for him. A little death won't hurt," I said innocently. She let go of my arm and looked down at the floor, pushing her lips into the shape of a line.
"Lily?" Tessa looked at her skeptically, "Do you still have feelings for him?"
"Possibly?" She said blankly.
Tessa facepalmed and Cole aggressively buried his face in his palms.
"Lily, he is a bad person. He doesn't deserve one bit of your affection," I turned and pulled her into a hug, "You are so perfect and he can't even compare to how amazing you are."
"But I've liked him for years, Ash. And I thought I finally had him, but then he went behind my back and slept with some random girl," She rubbed her eyes as she pulled out of the hug.
"But I bet that girl isn't nearly as great as you," Tessa said softly, "Lily you are way too good for a jerk that's going to treat you wrong."
"But he was the jerk that I thought was the one," She looked down at the floor.
For a large portion of the night we tried to make her feel better and eventually had her downloading a dating app. She hit it off with a guy named Noah and she spent the entire sleepover texting him.
I was laying down on one of the mattresses with Tessa and we were scrolling through TikTok when Payton came up and layed down on his back on top of me with the back of his head resting on my stomach.
"Hi?" I said more like a question.
"Hey," He tipped his head back and looked up at me. I giggled and set my phone down and started playing with his hair.
"Ew I hate you two," Tessa said dramatically and quickly got off the bed. We laughed in response and watched as she theatrically stormed off.
I kept playing with his hair, twirling some of the strands around my fingers as he closed his eyes.
"Are you tired?" I giggled.
"Mhm," He mumbled with his eyes still closed.
My eyelids started to feel heavy again as I stopped myself from falling asleep.
Damn, I keep getting tired today.
I took my hands away from Payton's hair.
"Heyyyy," He whined. He opened his eyes and looked up at me, sticking out his bottom lip.
"I'm tired though," I whined back.
"Fine," He muttered and closed his eyes again. I felt my eyes start to close when suddenly I heard someone clapping in my ear. I jumped and looked to see Angelica and Brent standing next to us and aggressively clapping their hands next to Payton and I's ears.
"No sleeping in the same bed," Angelica smiled innocently.
"You bitch," Payton scowled at her.
"Okay you're getting up now," Brent said, grabbing Payton's arms and pulling him up into a sitting position.
"I hate you both so much," I crossed my arms.
Payton sighed and got up from the mattress and flopped down on the other bed. His face embedded in the pillow as he spoke, "You guys are the worst!"
"I'm changing into pajamas," I grumbled and got out of bed.
I walked up both sets of my stairs to the second floor and into my room. I wandered to my dresser and picked out some fuzzy shorts and a sports bra.

I made my way back to the basement and threw myself back onto the mattress that I previously laid on. Tessa was back in her old spot, again scrolling through tiktok. I turned onto my side away from her and looked across to the other bed where Payton was peacefully sleeping.
His hair fell across his face and a couple strands landed at the corners of his mouth. He looked like an angel when he slept. I looked at the perfect boy that I now called my boyfriend for a while before I found myself asleep.
This chapter is a like 100 words short sorry
I took a small break from updates because I'm kind of losing inspiration for this book, and I just don't know what to write anymore.
I think I might end it soon and make a sequel eventually, but that would be after a couple books I'm already planning.
