During Chapter Fifteen

After leaving November's house, I knew that I had certain appointments to attend. So, I finally got the courage and drove to the doctor's office. 

Stepping into the large white building, the scent of hand sanitizer and latex gloves overwhelmed me, making me crinkle my nose. I walked up to the receptionists desk and signed in, going to sit in the waiting room afterwards. I tapped my foot, glaring at the floor as a million thoughts flew through my mind. 

"You're Micheal Kingston . . . aren't you?" I looked up to face a blonde, who stared back at me with wide eyes. She looked young; my age even. I wonder if she goes to school with us . . . 

"Who's asking?" I narrowed my eyes.

Rolling her eyes, she responded. "I go to school with you. That's all. What are you doing here?"

"Uhh," I searched for a reason, "the same reason you are."

She raised an eyebrow. "You're an intern here?" 

"What? No- I mean yes, I love medical work . . ." I stuttered.

"I'm sure," she snorted, "but, for now, the doctor is ready to see you." 

"Alright. Wait - what's your name?" I stood up to face her. 

"Brieanna. Don't hurt yourself trying to remember it." She winked at me then walked away.

Registering what just happened, I stood there for a few moments. Eventually, I walked down the long hallway and into my doctor's office. 

"Welcome back, Michael. Ready for your scan?" Doctor Persa asked.

"I guess so," I sighed.

"How have you been feeling lately? Any leg pain?" He wondered as he led me to another room.

"Not really, I actually forgot about it." We both laughed.

 "Well," he chuckled, "believe it or not that's a good sign."

I adjusted my tie, looking at myself in the mirror one more time before I grabbed my car keys and left my house. I got in my car and began the drive to Nova's house. 

I pulled out my phone and texted her that I was at her house after I had pulled up out front. She stepped out of her house, wearing a dress, with a black pea coat over the top, and very tall black heels. Her hair was perfectly styled in loose curls. 

She looked perfect. 

She sped over to the car and hopped into the passenger seat.
