Part of September Con-fest-ions for the September boys!
Mark had been standing in front of you for more than five minutes now. The snow had started pouring a little heavier that afternoon, and he wondered why you would call him out the old birch tree. You could have texted what you wanted to say. You could have told him in the classroom earlier.
Why did you have to wait for class to end just to talk to him in private, personally, like this?
Could you be...
Could you be confessing to him?
"I-" you finally opened your mouth. Mark waited with baited breath. You two were already shivering.
But you sighed again and looked away.
God damn. Mark couldn't stand the pressure.
"Hey, are you-"
"No, wait!" you raised your hand, making Mark flinch. You looked even redder now. If because of embarrassment or the cold getting into you, Mark wasn't sure. "Let me ask you something first."
Mark nodded.
"Do you... do you like someone right now, Mark?"
Mark looked away this time. How was he supposed to answer that? 'Yes, you.' But that would erase your efforts to call him out there. Why were you confessing first anyway? God, how brave of you. Another thing to love.
"There is?"
"No, that's not it!" Mark quickly answered this time. He's overthinking this!
"Huh? Do you have someone or not?"
"No, there's no one."
-
Oh, no one. So you were wrong to think that he liked you.
You've mustered up the courage to finally tell him your feelings after your mutual friends assured that Mark likes you too. But he said he didn't like anyone. So he didn't like you.
Crap, you messed up.
"Is that all?" he asked after you've yet again stared into oblivion and questioned your life.
"Yeah. I just wanted to know," you shook the snow piled on your head and shoulders.
"Okay? You could have asked that earlier though. Why do you have to drag me out of here?"
You bit your freezing lip. "I had something else to say, but I guess I'll think about it again first."
"Okay. I'll get going then?"
"Wait!" you held onto his sleeve to stop him from walking away. You immediately let go though, feeling heat all over your body contrast to the weather. "Can you meet me here again tomorrow? I'll tell you tomorrow, I promise!"
You saw Mark sigh. He scratched his head, making snow fall. He faced you with a reluctant smile. "Why don't I tell you something first then? So you'll find it easier to say whatever that is tomorrow?"
"Really? You'll meet me again?" You could not believe just how nice he is despite you being clumsy as hell. Oh, Mark Tuan, can you get any dreamier?
Okay then. Even if he rejects you, you would tell him tomorrow!
"Yeah. Or maybe somewhere warmer," Mark muttered, which you caught thankfully.
"I'm sorry! It's so stupid of me to call you out here, right? And I even backed out from what I'm supposed to say," you started dragging him back to the building. Can you get any more stupid? "Don't worry, tomorrow, I'll definitely tell you that I like you! So let's go home for now! I'll buy you a hot pocket as thank you!"
Wait...
Crap. You messed up again, didn't you?
