"What are we drinking ladies?"
I believe that's what Rex intended to say but it all came out as a thirsty slurr.
They were indeed already drinking beverages that you most definitely wouldn't find in a kiddie cooler.
But what else could you expect from a bunch of attention deprived, hormonally imbalanced, egoistic, immature, teenagers.
The oldest being chef who stands at a healthy 29 years old.
Although amongst us the oldest would be Rebel. It's really a miracle that he fails basic math so bad that promotions just pass him by, year after year.
Instantly I remembered what he tried to do to Amber in that bathroom.
But before I could get angry at him, I remembered what I did to Amber.
I remembered scarring her mentally and causing her to be abducted.
I couldn't hate him anymore. I had no right.
I became a worst monster than him.
I brought her ten times as much pain.
The thoughts hit be hard as I settled into the recliner.
The television was playing a James Bond movie and I let myself reminisce.
Ambers living room.
Her guy friends laughing.
Her brother cheering me on.
I looked around.
There wasn't my place.
Here was.
I saw Rex occupying the love seat with what looked to be Cindy and Megan on his lap.
Zac was eating Tasha's face against the poor painting on the left wall.
Codey was nowhere in sight, probably helping chef with the pizza.
Those guys from the diner, Mac, Jones and Simon were fighting over the pin ball machine in the game room.
Mark was on his phone typing away on a recliner identical to the one I occupied.
Kareem was laying down on the family size three seater with Martha in his arms.
I sighed. I felt sorry for her.
Her poor heart will be broken by next Monday.
The only guy that seemed to actually be watching the TV was Geo. He sat right on the carpeted floor, directly in front of the 52 inch television. At least we know who'll be needing glasses soon.
The scenery stayed that way until pizza was announced to be almost finished.
At that time, everyone stopped what they were doing, pushed the chairs around the table and settled down for a little pre-lunch discussion.
Nobody really changed seats.
Except Zac and Tasha was now seated in a loveseat while Jones, Simon and Mac sat on the other three seater.
The only available seating arrangement was in the three seater that Kareem and Martha was previously laying on.
I'm guessing Codey would end up in that sticky, or rather... slimy situation.
"Whos going for beer?"
At that exact time, the errand boy emerged from the bunker staircase.
"I know!"
"We all do."
Roberto simply sighed.
He walked into the open kitchen with his head hung low.
"Chef where's the sandwich?"
"I left it in the warmer boy,"
A cough could be heard across the room.
It came from Rebel, who I assume, ate said sandwich.
Roberto looked angry.
"You ate it didn't you???"
Rebel didn't seem fazed. He taunted him.
"So what if I did?"
"You're a disgusting pig."
"Yeah yeah whatever. You can just give her your pizza,"
He finished his statement with a shrug.
Roberto knew it was pointless.
"Where's the booze money?"
Little by little, everyone dipped in their pockets and passed him the cash.
Vipers were sure to hide their base well.
The only reason I find it so easily is because of the koi cove on the outer edge.
It would take Roberto a while to get back with the beers so everyone started to eat.
Well that was until,
"Luke hunny, I'd like to speak with you. Privately."
After stating her request, more like an order, she walked up the left staircase.
She had her own staircase to take her to every floor of the base.
Everyone else used the right staircase to move around.
The floor directly above this one was Kim's floor and the one above that one was her father's.
An outsider would say this distribution of space to be unfair.
But that outsider would also be killed on spot.
I could feel their eyes boring holes into my back as I followed slowly behind her.
As she led me into her room, she locked the door behind her, causing me to be in front of her.
It seemed that her floor was divided into a house in its own. I could see a hallway leading to a living room from the bedroom and doorways to the side could possibly lead to bathrooms or a kitchen, maybe both.
"Luke why won't you live with me?"
She turned me to face her as she led up to her pink, king sized bed.
"We are engaged right? It would be the normal thing to do,"
I showed no look of contemplation on my face however as our engagement was only because my parents lives depend on it.
"I'll give you anything you ask for, Luke please,"
She seemed to stop asking and was now pleading. And I would surely take advantage of that.
"Grant me permission to see Amber."
Kim's facial features twitch.
"What does she have that I don't?"
Why is she soo important??"
I was about to answer.
"You don't even care about her- after all you screwed her best friends twin sister!"
A blow to the heart.
"You will live with me. You will be the perfect fiancee or else Amber would become far less than an ember."
That was a threat.
I made my bed and now I was to lie in it. Even if it had a gang leaders' maniac of a daughter in it with me.
"I'll have them bring up your clothes, for now, let's give you a tour shall we?"
She let a girly giggle before going to stand inbetween the pink and stripes doors that lined the wall to the right.
The bed was jammed to the left wall.
"This is our walk in wardrobe!"
She sounded too excited as and pointed to the first door.
"This is our shared bathroom,"
She drawed her words out a bit too seductively as she gestured to the second door, the closer of the two to the hallway.
The hallway in which she then walked down.
It led to a dim, spacious room.
There was couches, a television, dining room set and even a pool table.
The kitchen was to the right and there was windows showing the lush green trees.
"Like it?"
It was honestly nice, excluding its owner entirely of course. So I nodded.
"Great!"
She clapped her hands and dragged me back out and down the stairs.
Once we were right at the base of the steps, she slipped a ring onto my finger.
"Great news guys! We finally got out engagements rings!"
Kim then proceeded to hold up our hands and the room was filled with our of tune clapping for a good five minutes before Codey started bringing out pizzas and Roberto brought in the beers.
"Finally!"
Everyone was eating but somehow managed to sigh with relief at the sight of Roberto holding three bags of beer.
Without even acknowledging him, Kim pushed me against the wall and kissed me hard. The alchol in my system reacted faster than I could and by the time it was over, I could see his silhouette moving down the staircase.
Wolf whistles tore my gaze from the stairs as the guys each held a beer up to me.
Cheers to my engagement.
