"So she did all of this for me?"
Unfamiliar voice.
"Yes indeed."
Semi familiar voice.
"Why?"
Unfamiliar voice.
"Shes just that kind of person."
Semi familiar voice.
"Grrrr!"
Very familiar bark.
Wait a minute. A bark? A bark of a tree. No Amber. A bark of a dog. The only dog I knew was Ly.
At that point I became totally conscious.
"Oh so your finally awake."
"Roberto?"
"Yes Amber?"
"Who are you talking to?"
"Maggie."
There was no way.
"Stop playing."
"Open your eyes Amber,"
Slowly, I coaxed my eyelids open.
"I'm Maggie, I really appreciate everything you've done for me,"
She looked different.
Her hair was clean and combed and her clothes wasn't tattered, her wounds would take some time to heal though.
"While you was asleep, I helped Maggie take a bath and get changed. She ate some pizza and has been playing with your dog since."
"Its Luke's dog."
He looked me in the eyes.
"Want me to return it?"
"Oh no it's fine, she doesn't like him anyway,"
I gave him a smile but he responded with a deep frown.
"I'm sorry for saying those inconsiderate thin-"
"Roberto its fine. You weren't the cause of me fainting. I didn't take my medicine, that's all."
He sent me a sad smile nevertheless as he dipped in his pockets. Then once again he frowned.
"I'll be right back, I left them on the counter.."
I heard Maggie whisper 'what did he leave?'.
I guess we were just all strangers.
But for our sake, I should try to change that.
Maggie had the same thought.
"How did you get roped into all of this?"
I hadn't expected her to speak up first, after all she's been through.
"I got involved with Luke... then I was somewhere I shouldnt have been under pure coincidence. I don't really know how it got me here but I guess that's how kidnappings usual goes."
She laughed at my dismay.
"Sounds like we're in a similar predicament. You see... I'm a member of another gang called Ravagers. But my boyfriend, well ex-boyfriend now, Keith, is a member of this gang, Vipers. I also happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time and got myself abducted."
"This is what we get for liking the bad boys."
She laughed once again. I'm glad she found me funny because she really did deserve as much happiness as possible.
Once her laughter has died down, she began speaking in a softer tone.
"I was a humble assistant to the librarian. Orphaned even before birth, Mister R. took me in. Treated me like his very own daughter. Even after his biological daughter was murdered, he still showed me the compassion of a father. I devoted my life to the Ravagers, to Mister R., to his sons and to his one gone daughter who always made me feel welcome even when I once loved the man she loved."
She had it hard. There was nothing I could say to make her feel better.
She was a warrior.
"I was also orphaned, by the choice of both my parents, Luke and I stayed at the same orphanage. Even as I aged, they couldn't decide which parent wanted me. So the court came up with splitting the years into three month incriminates. Each three month was to be spent by a different parents. But my mother has this addiction to moving. Nearly every year she moves to a new and extremely far location. Which meant that I couldn't get attached to places nor people. A little more than a week ago, I came to spend three months with her. She moved here a while back. Luke lives right next door. And you can pretty much connect the dots from there."
"Damn girl. Moving so often must be hard. But what about your dad?"
"I've never seen him. I've heard him speak, I've heard my mother call him 'Kevin' but that was about it."
I finished off with a yawn. I've been eating during this whole heart to heart.
But by the looks of it, we both were tired.
There was an unspoken agreement.
I had the inner wall side and she took the outer side along with the pillow.
I had Ly and the duffle bag.
This was probably as best as it got for abductees.
This was certainly no Prison of Azkaban.
But hopefully I can still break out like Sirius Black when the time comes.
Until then, I'll let myself become a continuous captive of ever sweet slumber.•~••~•~•~•*change in POV*•~•~•~••~•
"The pictures were sent to your phones earlier this morning. We grab the three at lunch in the parking lot."
If it wasn't a gang I was addressing, I'd probably need to say 'dismissed' for my listeners to scurry off.
But it was indeed a gang. And in said gang, a lot of words stay unspoken.
It took our intel agent , Cregg, a few hours to get the names and photos of the targets along with their call list and even their search history. The latter was for pure amusement if you were wondering.
Jason drove his car, Evan took his and I took mine. The rest of guys then split themselves up into Jason's and Evans cars because I wasn't going straight to school.
The guys found school amusing. Probably because of the fact that we were all home schooled or because they could literally do whatever they wanted.
Technically we finished high school already.
But with our youthful faces, we could easily slip in as seniors.
Most of the guys lived on one of the other surroundings islands.
Even I, at one point in time.
Moving from island to island in such a close proximity was as easy as taking a taxi.
The thing is, all three islands were originally owned by the same mafia family.
A typical mafia family consisted of many regular families roped together by favors and marriages.
The initial family was broken into two after a betrayal some years ago.
The bigger of the two became the R. Family.
The smaller became the V. Family.
Both families held domain an entire island apart.
R. to the north and V. to the south.
You would think that because the V. Family was considerably smaller, the R. Family would have no problem exterminating them. But only in a perfect world would it be that easy.
The V. Family previously dealt with the dirty work when they were apart of the initial family. As a result, the V. easily converted the initial family's buyers and sellers into theirs. Completely blocking the drug cartel and weapons dealing from reaching the R. Family's shores.
Because of this, the R. Family was forced to station a group of its members into the central island in which the V. Family has been conducting business.
The group was now being called the Ravagers, a gang, by the locals.
The older inhabitants no doubt have drawn the line connecting the R. Family to the Ravagers. But everything is kept under the wrap.
We've been on Polley since 2014.
Most of my members were brought straight from Purvis with the exception of Kent, Jason and Cooper, all of which were Polley locals.
The initial family was broken up in the early 1980's so most members of the R. Family have never stepped foot on Purdy. The same could be said for the V. Family as it pertains to Purvis.
Locals of all three islands call the furthest two islands the north and south pole, respectively and the middle island the mainland.
It was a paradox of sorts as the islands weren't that far apart but intertravel was so scarce due to restriction that most people never really left their island.
The only advantage we as members of the north pole had was the airport we were now constructing. But with the block of trade, materials were being unattainable.
As the heir, I had a lot of responsibilities.
But for some reason,
getting back Amber seemed to be the most important one.
