"She's gonna die. She's already being transported to the big base over in the south pole."
This was news to me. News that made my stomach churn. I didn't answer. I couldn't.
Images invaded my mind.
Blood. Gore. Screaming.
Cold bodies.
This was all my fault.
"Your in deep shit now Luke."
She hung up.
A few seconds later I received a message alert. I was going to ignore it, but something told me to do otherwise.
I unlocked my phone and opened the attachments.
Two images.
Both was of the same person.
Bloody, beaten up, mostly naked and unrecognizable.
I couldn't tell who it was.
I could see a faint outline of the other prisoner in the background.
But was it Amber?
It made me sick to think of the chances.
One photo was taken in the left chamber and the other was in the right chamber.
I threw the phone on the other side of my bed in anger.
Yes my bed. I wasn't sleeping in some girls bed.
I was officially grounded as of 8:05pm yesterday night.
Kim decided that the best way to start my Sunday morning was with a call.
A very informative call might I add.
I learnt that Rex had indeed gone to the ransom meet up alone after stealing two duffle bags of money.
Apparently, Kim had a plan which included all the guys ambushing the people that took Mac, Jones and Simon but Rex refused to work with the less experienced members and thus set out to do it all alone.
Which then resulted in what seemed to be his death. They hoped that he was captured but I don't see the capturers needing him after they take the money.
But that wasn't my battle to fight.
I was now an enemy of the Vipers.
I refused a direct order and now my family and I's lives are all at risk.
There was no going back now.
No more trying to help Amber.
She was being moved away.
I'd never see her again.
I didn't even get to apologize.
I couldn't do anything. else...except...maybe.
Maybe I could call her brother.
I had nothing to lose. Everything I had was already at sake. What difference could one call make?
But I didn't have his number.
And Amber's cell phone was probably long discarded.
The only place I could check was the ice cream parlor.
I needed a well thought out plan to get Gina to let me go.
And that plan came in the form of a yelp.
Once I was downstairs, I could see James gingerly rubbing Gina's foot as she clutched her belly.
Cramps.
And thus I set my plan I action.
"Want me to go get some ice cream?"
"Yes ple-"
Gina cut James off.
"No. Luke I know what your gonna do. Your gonna leave and take hours to return. I forbid it."
"I won't. I swear. You need it, James needs some too. I'll be back in about fifteen minutes, that already includes traffic lag."
I sent her a truthful stare.
She sighed.
"I want a bucket of Coconut. James will take a Rum & Raisin and buy a Neapolitan for the house."
I nodded and started towards the door.
"The money is under the key bowl!"
She called after me.
I quickly grabbed the two bills and slipped it into my pocket.
Once I started the car, I took the coastal route that I had taken when I went to the library.
I watched the scenery with a sense of remembrance. Sad remembrance.
Once I was at the parlor, I eagerly stumbled in and walked right up to the counter.
I couldn't remember the waiters name, but there was bound to only be a few of them.
One was bound to ring a bell. Right?
So I asked to see the waiter, which turned out to be a very young boy.
Then I asked him about the other waiters.
Turns out there was only three.
One of which quit less than a week ago.
After he described him, I knew that was my guy. I asked for his number and made my purchase, leaving behind a heavy tip.
On the drive back, I called the number.
He didn't answer. I called him twenty three more times. On the twenty forth, I was already laying in my bed, exasperated.
He answered.
"What?"
Nice answering service.
"I need to speak to Amber's brother."
I heard some shuffling til Kent's voice came on line.
I spoke the words I've been dreading to say outloud for almost a week now.
Hoping that if I hadn't say it, it would turn out to be a bad dream.

•~••~•~•~•*change in POV*•~•~•~••~•
"Amber has been taken by a gang."
Those were the words he spoke.
I knew he knew something.
But I didn't think he'd know something so important.
We were all sitting down, having some leftover pie when Jason gets a call from a old coworker saying a guy just came by and took his number.
Shortly after, twenty three missed calls and one answered call to be exact, the guy was determined to be none other than Luke.
Now we were all huddled around the table quietly as the phone was held in the middle on loud speaker.
Kent played along.
"What?"
"A gang took her..."
"Why? What gang?"
"I got involved with the leaders daughter and ... they took her because me... it's a gang called the Vipers. They run the port."
Nice he was proving to be honest so far.
"How long did you know?"
"Well..."
"How long Luke?"
"Uh-"
"Luke. Answer me. How long."
"From the start."
"How????"
"I helped them capture her alright?"
So that's how they got her.
"No its not alright. You betrayed her after you got her in trouble."
"I know I know..."
"What else do you know?"
"I know where the base is..."
"Have you been there?"
"Alot of times..."
"Why? Did you see Amber after she was captured?"
"Some of my classmates are members so we hang out there. I wasn't allowed to see her...but I heard that..."
"That what?"
"that... well..."
"What is it Luke?"
"Well I heard that... some of the guys were granted permission to access the captives...and that she was being moved to the south pole..."
Interesting. They were moving her?
We could perform double ambush with the right information.
"When you say captives. Are there others?"
"Yes. There's another girl."
"Do you know anything about her?"
"Well I know that she's the girlfriend of Keith and that she belongs to the rival gang... she was caught for hearing things she shouldn't have but after they learnt who she was they didn't just use and abuse her... they've been interrogating her for information about the location of the of the rival gang..."
This information... is more than we could've ever hoped for.
The first three guys haven't even give half of this intel and all it took was a little pressure.
Kent pressed on.
"Who was this rival gang?"
"I dont know. I don't think anyone knows. They lurked in the shadows. Their known as the Ravagers."
Great. Our identity was still hidden.
"Are you a member of the Vipers?"
He stuttered to find an answer.
"I was forced to be engaged with their leaders daughter. Other than that I don't have any dealings with them. I just want my family and I to be safe..."
If his words were true, then we could possibly take him in. But he's caused Amber so much pain. I just feel so much pity for and anger towards him.
"Alright, thanks for letting me know. I have to go, I'll call you later on."
Kent hanged up and turned to me.
"Whats the plan?"
Based on the information I got from Rex, I have the full layout of the entire base.
Floor by floor. Escape routes included.
"We're doing a double extraction tomorrow morning at 3am."
With that, we dispersed.
Ready or not.
Here we come.
