"Chug! Chug! Chug! Chug! Chug!"
"Come on man!"
"Do it,do it,do it!"
Everyone had their own chant, all of which served the same purpose of edging me on to drink more and more cans of this beer.
Not any ordinary cans however, the cans were to be stabbed with a pocket knife by yours truly then emptied into my stomach via the knife hole.
There was a high possibility that this action had a name, but there was also a high possibility of me being completely wasted from the case of beer I consumed prior to this adventurous little game.
I hadn't the slightest clue as to why I was being given three times the amount of alcohol as anybody else in the room, well except for chef and Kim since they didn't drink at all.
However, questioning this fact wasn't in my plans for the night. As long as the beers kept coming I'd continue to drink them because what else was I to do?
I already set the girl I loved up to die.
Kim is pressing me for attention like a needy child.
My parents questioned the fact that I didn't didn't go school today. They even asked for Amber.
Everything was a mess.
At least I could drink my sorrows away tonight and start worrying first thing tomorrow.
We quickly reached to the point where the lip became loose.
I heard some regular things like the fact that Tasha slept with Zac while his parents was in the other room, Kareem was dared to date Martha for two weeks and that Geo was responsible for the robbery down on Jerrerys Lane.
I also heard something interesting. Codey has been secretly meeting his significant other for months now under everyone's noses.
I felt kinda relieved after hearing that Mark didn't actually make out with Amber in the closet that night.
I also heard that Tasha was the one who gave Rebel the key to the bathroom I found Amber in. But under such heavy intoxication I couldn't move a muscle, not did I want to, oddly enough.
It was only fair for me to give a little too.
I heard myself talking about the night at the club, about all the guys she had in her house, about the time at the ice cream shop. A evasdropping stranger would believe that Amber was some sort of whore from my portrayal but at this point I couldn't care less.
It was quite a group discussion, but sadly the session was concluded when Roberto emerged from the bunkers.
He didn't spare any of us a glance as he scurried off to the kitchen. However he didn't make it there.
"Roberto, I'd like to have a word with you."
Kim froze him right in his steps.
Everyone knew better than to disobey Kim.
Slowly he followed her into the game room.
Abruptly, she turned and signalled for me to also follow as well.
And as a supportive fiancee, that's exactly what I did.
Roberto looked around nervously and Kim sat down behind the pin ball machine.
"So Roberto...How has your guardian duty been going?"
An icebreaker I presumed.
"Quite well Ma'am."
She quickly waved him off.
"No need for formalites, but could the reason it's been going so well is the fact that you get to bathe our captives yourself?"
The smirk could be heard in her voice and the embarrassment could be seen in the redness of Roberto's ears.
However I didn't find this remotely entertaining.
This little creep bathed Amber?
His bent head provided even more confirmation.
Kim pressed on.
"How are the girls?"
"Maggie is being starved and neither have clothing to wear Ma'am..."
"And?"
She looked unbothered.
"I strongly believe that the girls would provide the information we require if they were comfortable Ma'am..."
Roberto's words were both thoughtful and sensible. But those were ideals that Kim didn't know.
"So?..."
I expected Roberto to give up by now.
"Amber requested that I pick up clothing for both girls from her house...and that Maggie be fed, under the hope of the prior stated.."
Kim pondered. A real rare sight.
"Okay... I'll allow three days of comfortable treatment, if we get the information we need, I'll consider sustaining that treatment for longer."
"Thank you Ma'am,"
Roberto looked relieved.
Somewhere deep down I hoped he didn't have feelings for Amber.
Roberto excused himself.
"Oh and Roberto, just some advice... don't get attached. It'll hurt when they die."
His face twisted in agony and so did my heart.
Her words held none of the charm her face held.
For once I felt something other than hate towards Roberto. I felt sympathetic.
Maybe if I hadn't known Amber I would offer him my pity.
But I knew her all to well.
And I supposed what I did next was as a result of that.
Cautiously, I slipped past Roberto and whispered four little words into his ear.
No I did not confess my secret love interest.
I simply asked him to 'meet me outside', placing heavy emphasis on the 'now'.
Then I proceeded to stumble outside.
It slipped my mind that I was previously drinking. There was no way I could drive all the way home in this state.
I guess I was riding shotgun in my own car.
Roberto had a sceptical look on his face, I don't blame him, I have intentionally been unkind to him for no reason at all, aside from jealousy of course.
"What do you want Luke? I don't have t-"
"Get in the car Roberto."
"What? Why???"
I sighed. All the unnecessary questions.
"I'm gonna take you to Amber's house and in the way back we can get them some good since those guys ate all the pizza and chef has to make a grocery trip tomorrow."
His mouth formed a 'O' as he slowly drank in the information, shortly after he proceeded to making the sound of the 'O'.
Which made me facepalm. Kids.
"Wait. I don't have her house key."
He was mid sprint before I spoke out.
"No worries I have a key."
He froze.
"You have a key?"
I nodded.
"Why do you have a key?"
"I'll explain on the drive, now get in."
I unlocked the car and got into the passengers seat, then opened the drivers seat for him to hop in.
"Wait wait wait."
I sighed once again. At this rate Kim would figure out we were doing in no time.
"Process quicker slow loris."
"I'm driving?"
"Well the seat I'm occupying doesn't have the steering wheel attach to it so I guess so."
"But I-"
"Roberto get in the car, Now."
He obliged like a sad puppy.
He backed us out of the carpark, the forest and onto the main road.
"Continue along this road, then turn left when I tell you."
He nodded.
It took a great of time before we hit the city stretch. Not because of the distance...
Because of his slow driving.
"Swing down on 2nd Avenue."
I heard him counting the avenues as we past but pretended not to for his pride sake.
"Pull over in front of the next house."
At that moment I remembered him requesting an explanation about the key.
"I live next door, I help her mom before she came to stay with her, I helped so often that her mom gave me a key."
He simply nodded.
"If you don't mind, I'll go get the clothes."
I didn't give him time to object.
I was in and out in a jiffy after throwing clothes, towels, toothbrushes and her hairbrush into the duffle bag I had left over from our failed attempt to go to the beach.
I remembered going to the grocery with her that day.
The day before I messed it all up.
