"You don't understand... you can't stay here."
"Why not?"
I sighed once again.
I knew convincing them to move would be hard but it was necessary for them to live to see another day.
"Can't you go live by the cousins who's wedding you attended?"
They needed to go. Soon.
"Lilianne?"
I nodded. I didn't know much about her.
Only that she lived on one of the other islands.
Either way I wouldn't be able to meet her.
There was no way all three of us could use the port without the Vipers picking up on us.
It was impossible.
Gina and James had a way better chance of escaping.
I already called Kent.
There was nothing he could do to help.
The information was irrelevant to someone ordinary like him.
It shouldn't matter that I called him.
So when I return to the base, and give my fakest apology, I hope Kim takes me back.
Even if she did, she'd still kill my parents.
She's crazy like that.
There was no way to escape my faith with her.
But my parents don't deserve to be roped in.
"Yes...You need to call her now."
We were all standing in my room.
I asked them to come up after breakfast.
"I don't understand Luke."
"This better not be a pran-"
"Its not a prank! It's not safe for you guys here anymore..."
Her eyebrows furrowed as James sat down in confusion.
"Why aren't we safe?"
James made direct eye contact.
"Luke. Why aren't we safe?"
He usually wasn't like this.
He wasn't the strict one of the two.
He didn't drill questions as if he was looking for oil.
But once Gina could be harmed in any way, his beast mode activates.
I sighed for the thousandth time.
They wouldn't understand.
They couldn't possibly understand.
They'd die.
I couldn't take two more people dying because of me.
I already secured Amber's reaper appointment.
There was no hope for her.
In the end I was useless.
I couldn't let the same thing happen to my parents.
I couldn't.
"You need to leave...please just leave..."
Maybe it was the nonexistent onions but my eyes started to over full with salty water.
Gina's facial expression softened.
She quickly ushered me to sit on the end of the bed, whispering sweet nothings into my ear.
James was looking away awkwardly.
I don't blame him.
After about fifteen minutes, Gina cleared her throat.
During that fifteen minutes I decided that I might as well tell them everything.
They deserve to know.
They've grown me up for a bit less than half my current lifespan.
It was the least I could do at this point, considering the fact that I'll most likely never see them again.
But that was just how it had to be.
They couldn't fix the storm I created.
The most they could do it run from it.
There was no other way. It might never blow over.
It's not like they could call the police for the gang.
The gangs basically governed the mainland.
The police was just for show.
They only dealt with petty burglaries and parking tickets.
There are barely any homicides or murders in the mainland.
Most people live past the ripe old age of 100.
The gangs actually take care of the people.
Without them the islands would've gone to ruins when the foreigners invaded back in the early 1940's.
The invasion is what most of the older folks believe to be the reason of the gangs to begin with.
But regardless, honesty was the best policy.

"Examine these blueprints carefully."
Once we got the layout completed it was easy to get the exact location and route.
"The base has a total of six floors. Three above ground level and three below. According to the intel, Maggie is in the east chamber on the last floor."
Everyone stiffly nodded. That was all the confirmation I needed to continue.
"Brad, this is your mission to lead. Tom and Tyler will be there to back you up. Cooper will also be there to get some on the spot training-"
"What will you and the others be doing?"
I was interrupted. If it wasn't a good question I probably would've shot him right there with the state of mind I was currently in.
It was only fair for my little brother to worry about my whereabouts whilst I send him on a mission.
"Kent, Jason and I will continue the search for Amber. If you need assistance, call us. Evan and Franklin will watch over our base and captives until you guys return."
That was all that was needed to be said.
So with that, I walked outside to meet Kent smoking a cigarette. He only smoked when he was genuinely stressed.
The last time he smoked was last year when Vixen was murdered.
Vixen was Kent's fiancé.
He proposed shortly after telling her of his involvement with the gang.
He expected her to say no.
So when she said yes, and he broke down in tears, I adverted my eyes.
Kent was a cold blooded killer, but he never lost his heart.
Jason was a similar case. They both have something that makes me envious.
I thought after Vixen's death, Kent would grow dull and ruthless.
But shortly after, he began the search for his lost sister. The last time he had seen her, she had run away from home.
We had moved to a new base, but Kent insisted that the school year be finished at the same complex.
Kent had recently been initiated into the Ravagers due to his mutual distaste in the Vipers.
He had his reasons and I had mine.
So when I abruptly decided to move in order to plan an attack on the Vipers base, he readily dropped all his attachments, including his sister.
Revenge for Vixen's death came first.
It gave him the strength to effectively follow orders even though prior arrangements were catching up.
The deal he had made in the past was now time to be fulfilled.
I could tell that he regretted it, but it wasn't my place to sympathize.
I didn't have time to bother myself with trivial things.
I had to get revenge for all my fallen men.
I had to avenge my mother, my brother and my little sister.
She barely lived her life.
She didn't even get to have her wedding.
Her entire life was taken away from her.
I never met my brother.
Brad was born a twin.
His other half never made it out of the car crash. The crash also killed my mother.
That day was still fresh in my memory.
I awaited my new brothers arrival.
But only one came home.
Accompanied by my father.
It was truly traumatic.
Tears rolled down his face as he wheeled into the room.
The only other time I saw him cry was when we found Vixen dead in her room.
I will avenge them all.
Memories of my sister occupied my mind as I took in the scenery.
The air was filled with moisture as leaves danced in the breeze.
The day was bleak.
Kent was leant up on the opposite wall, a new cigarette was in his left hand as he crushed down his previous one on the wall.
We didnt need to speak.
Amber was the only person we had left.
We lost too much in common.
Now we will get back what's ours.
Together.
