A/N this one is short without much action, but this is hinting at the next few chapters, so I spent a good deal of time writing it just right. I hope you enjoy. I promise that Wednesday's upload will be very tense.
Camila woke up earlier than usual. She had been woken by Lilith rolling out of bed to go train before breakfast. Camila has protested, claiming that too much exertion would slow her healing.
"You got shot with a crossbow, Lilith. You don't need to be training right now." Camila crossed her arms. "You should be wearing your sling too."
"I'll be fine." Lilith continued wrapping her hands with boxing tapes. "Plus, I don't have to use my arms. But I'm not doing nothing. I'll just have an extra leg day until this thing heals."
"Then why are you putting on boxing tapes?"
Lilith sighed. "Are you just here to nag?"
"I'm making sure you don't hurt yourself again. You need to heal and that means taking it easy." Camila walked towards Lilith and grabbed her hand, undoing the velcro strip on the back of her wrist. "You won't be needing these."
Lilith let her remove her hand tapes. She watched as her small hands worked, smooth and gentle. She closed her eyes and took in a silent breath, taking in the sweet flowery smell.
"Lilith?" Lilith's eyes flew wide open. "Are you feeling okay?"
"Yeah," she shook her head, "I'm fine. Sorry," she added stiffly.
Camila grinned at her awkwardness. "You're a dork."
"No," Lilith playfully smiled. "You're a dork."
"Oh my God!" Camila and Lilith turned to the source of the sound. Mary spoke up again, exasperated. "Some of us are still trying to sleep."
Camila and Lilith looked to one another. "I'm going to get dressed. Wait for me before you leave?" Camila whispered.
Lilith nodded silently and sat down on the bed, already dressed in her OCS sweats and hoodie. Camila disappeared behind a privacy curtain.
She emerged a moment later sporting her training attire, but with her hair loose for the day. She stepped out from behind the curtain and ran a hand through her curls, enjoying the sensation of not having her hair bound. They were allowed to wear their hair loose for training, but it wasn't exactly socially accepted. It was something she had come to notice early on in joining the Order. There were several things that weren't rules, but still were treated as such.
She shook off the voice of concern that seductively purred at the back of her mind. It was early enough that her and Lilith would likely be the only ones awake and training at this hour. At least she hoped.
Lilith stood and lead her out of the room. They walked side by side down the hall not exchanging any words but rather enjoying the comfortable silence they both shared. The walk to the training room was shorter today having stayed in the infirmary over night.
Camila swung open the tall wooden doors and observed the variety of weights, weapons, and protective gear displayed on the walls. Walking into this room never failed to make her feel like a badass. It was just one perk of being in the OCS.
Camila watched Lilith make her way over to the weights where she grabbed a set of ankle weights before moving to lay down on an exercise mat. She lifted a leg. Camila stared on, fascinated by the smooth and subtle glide of her muscles over her thighs and stomach. The sight plucked at the delicate strings of her chest that she had almost forgot existed. The vibration made its way to her cheeks and mind, filling her with a warm restlessness. Her mind briefly wandered to the rest of her body and how she moved. She could hear Lilith's heavy breathing. A rather unholy thought pushed its way into her mind and she felt herself stiffen. Camila shook away the thoughts and pulled her eyes away from the source of her temptation.
