I glanced over my shoulder to see the three of them immediately stop what they were doing to stare after me. I frowned. "What?"
"Where are you going?" Justin asked.
"Just outside," I said.
"For how long?" Catherine questioned.
"Just for a while," I responded.
"To do what?" Gray narrowed his eyes at me.
"Wait for Jake," I snapped. " What's with these questions?"
"Do you know how big of a danger magnet you are?" Gray snorted.
"Jake?" Justin repeated. I thought I saw displeasure run through his eyes, it was gone the next time he blinked. "For what?"
I huffed. "None of your business. Stop asking me so many questions."
Gray snorted in amusement but immediately dropped his grin when Justin and I threw a glare at him. I trotted out of the room and into the club room where it was still booming with people. I spotted Eugene in the corner of the club, passed out on a table and made a mental note to tell Gray later.
I looked around and saw Yuri on the other side of the club, helping serve people while Tristan was busy flirting with a black haired woman. I quickly passed by everyone and headed out.
A cold breeze hit me like a brick as soon as soon as I stepped outside the alleyway. Huddling the hood of my cloak tighter to my face, I glanced around wearily. Although the road here was deserted, I could still hear the life of the streets at night echo through the air. I turned on my heel and looked up at the sky.
A black shadow dropped from the sky a minute later and landed on my shoulder. I rubbed Rezin's head. "I suppose if Jake's not here yet, he's not coming back for tonight."
Rezin trilled happily and shook his feathers. Smiling, I nodded. "Thank you, Rezin."
The bird flew off my shoulder and soared into the sky again. I watched him fly until he blended into the dark sky before turning back towards the alleyway and going back into the club again.
I saw Yuri and told him to go back into the back room before setting off to find Tristan. It was difficult to interrupt the good atmosphere the two were having, and especially difficult to try to block the daggers the woman was shooting at me as I talked to Tristan. We walked to the back room where Yuri was waiting happily for us.
"That was quick," Gray remarked when we walked in.
"Jake won't be coming back today. I believe he's staying with Jade for the night," I said, closing the door behind us.
"What?" Catherine gasped. "They've made up that quickly?"
"I would think so," I shrugged.
"How'd you know?" Justin asked.
"Rezin," I answered before turning to Gray. "You might want to get Eugene back in here. He's out cold."
"Again?" Gray cried. "Oh gosh!"
He rushed out of the room to get Eugene as Tristan and Yuri turned to look at me with curiosity. "Why'd you call us in?"
I clapped my hands together. "Let's get going tomorrow."
Silence filled the room for a long second before Tristan broke it. "Tomorrow? As in tomorrow?"
"What?" I asked.
Catherine rolled her eyes. "Sure. I think we've spent way too long here anyways. It's a pity, though. They have really great pots here."
"I'm going to miss my dates," Tristan sighed in disappointment.
