Charlie was suddenly lost in thought. She stared at the shadow intently, as if she was trying to understand what it was. Alastor walked behind her and placed a hand on her shoulder. Charlie was startled, but she recognized him and calmed.
"S-sorry, I was just thinking..." Tears flowed down her cheeks, staining her pale skin. "Darling, please don't cry," Alastor attempted to improve the situation. He used a finger to wipe her face clean. "What's wrong, Charlie?" Vaggie was now standing beside the two, concerned for her friend.
Charlie sniffled and wiped her nose, giving them a reassuring smile. "I remembered something from when I was really young...the first time I had witnessed an Extermination. I guess that really messed me up, huh?" She added, giggling softly.
Alastor noticed movement from the shadow, but he was not fast enough to move Charlie before it could grab her.
"I'll admit, you had it goin'," Monster pulled the princess to his chest and held a knife to her throat. "Actually, I'm kinda sad I had to do this." The other demons stood, frozen and speechless. Alastor charged a beam in his hand, but Monster had seen him. "Better put that away if you want to have her back whole."
Charlie's eyes had grown wide in terror. The shadow smirked at her, flashing it's bright white teeth. "You're a pretty thing, aren't you? Too bad you will be dead by the end of the night." He brought a finger to her chin.
Alastor was enraged.
"YOU FILTHY BEAST! UNHAND HER THIS INSTANT OR YOU WILL REGRET BEING CREATED!" Charlie shook her head, but Alastor ignored the warning. No one, NO ONE, touched Charlie without severe punishment.
Monster gave him a sinister grin. "Looks like someone's a little protective, huh Alastor? Your energy is wasted on love, and you know that." He lifted the blonde by her hair, allowing her to dangle. She let out a pained cry.
"You know I will come, each and every time," Monster continued as he played with Charlie. "To tear any kind of happiness from your grasp. You never deserved joy, and you never will." Alastor glanced down. The shadow was right; he would never be able to love as long as he resided in Hell.
The demon shook those thoughts away, knowing they were only to tear him down. "That is where you are mistaken. This ends NOW." Summoning power, Alastor felt energy surge through his body as he prepared to obliterate the shadow being.
"You're right. This does end now." The shadow held Charlie closer and with one fluid movement, he slit her throat.
