Alastor had no idea how tired he had been until he laid his head to the side. He fell asleep slowly, despite his exhaustion, as he listened to the princess talk to herself.

"This is the worst fucking week ever, but it's the best week ever," Charlie whispered. "I fell in love and had my head chopped off. I kissed the Radio Demon and I had to watch him shoot himself." She sighed, Alastor could tell she was miserable about the pathetic situation.

For some strange reason, Alastor felt something wrong. This wasn't over; it never had been and never would be. He knew the shadow that once lurked his mind was still on the prowl, awaiting the next opportunity to break them down.

But they always got back up somehow.

Charlie rustled under the sheets, Alastor lifted an ear slightly. He felt her hand squeeze against his, warm and small. Smiling softly, he laid his head to the side.

Alastor had one of his worst nightmares yet.

The blinding lights of a cheap apartment lit the tears on Charlie's face, of whom was several inches taller than him. He looked around, confused and slightly concerned. He was aware this was a dream, but he was worried it might not have been.

"I can't believe you. All you ever do is push me away!" Alastor flinched at her screaming. He then noticed his skin had a warmer tone...he was human. Charlie continued to shrug off his attempts to ease the conflict.

He had no intention of pushing her away. "You just think I'm too weak to help you! But really YOU are the one who's WEAK!" She now towered above him, her face twisted into a disgusted snarl. "You just wear that stupid grin to make yourself feel important! Well, GUESS WHAT?! YOU MEAN NOTHING!"

"C-Charlie...p-please let me explain..." Alastor whimpered. "No. I'm done with your pathetic acts."

"I hate you."

She pushed past him, walking into the sunlight outside as she left the building. Her words cut him deeper than ever; he wished he could tear himself apart. Alastor broke down sobbing. He knew it was a dream; knew it was fake.

But it was all too real.

Alastor awoke to violent shoving, he immediately backed away in fear. Charlie gave him a worried frown. "Al...are you okay?" He let out a sigh, glad she was back to normal. "No. I think...I think I need to leave."
