Then you opened up my eyes

Charlie felt hot shame curl in her chest. "I promise. And...I'm sorry. I completely disregarded everything you said back during the fight, I should have listened." She watched as Alastor brought a hand to her cheek, she leaned into his touch.

"As long as you are alive and happy, that is all that matters to me." He flashed a mischievous grin to her. "Although, I found your skills on the battlefield quite impressive, my dear. You are ruthless when it comes to fighting. And your wings," Alastor continued. "Words cannot describe how beautiful they are."

Charlie blushed at the compliment. She had always found them to be 'angelic ugliness', or so her father called it. "Thanks...I never really liked them. They belong to an angel, not the Princess of Hell." "Well, I think they are absolutely stunning." Alastor slid closer to her and pulled her in a tight embrace.

"Maybe someday you will find how truly breathtaking you are. You are taken for granted by your people, your friends, even I did at one point. Beyond your physical beauty," Alastor stroked her hair with his fingers. "You have an even more radiant soul."

Charlie hugged him back. "Thank you, Al." She whispered. "Thank you so much for everything you do. You are not half as bad as what people think of you, you are a charming, energetic man with a big heart. The definition of 'perfect boyfriend'."

Alastor separated momentarily. "Is that what we are? Friends?" He seemed hurt, Charlie realized her mistake. "No, no, no, we are way more than that," She attempted to fix the tension. "Umm...we're like..." She struggled to find a synonym he may have known. "Oh! We're like a married couple, just not married yet."

The demon understood instantly. "Ah, that makes more sense. But what is it you mean by 'yet'?" Charlie felt her face grow warm. She hadn't expected that, she felt flustered when she knew she shouldn't have been. "Um...y'know...if we ever do get married..." She looked to the ground, attempting to hide her embarrassment.

"Dear, there should be no 'if' in that statement. Only 'when' will do. WHEN we get married." Alastor's eyes glowed dimly, his smile was small but genuine. "I am merely messing with you. There is no need to get upset." "No, I'm not upset. Actually, I'm pretty happy."

Alastor wrapped his long arms around her once again. "I am very happy as well, my love. Very happy indeed."
