Felt that it all was just a little too late

Charlie gazed up at the bland white ceiling, her mind swirling. Everything she had been through, the things she had learned, within the past few days was astounding. She would have never guessed she would find the evil entity's weakness.

She turned to her side, and turned off the small but bright lamp beside her. The room was plunged into darkness. The deadly darkness.

Pushing away the thoughts of the day, she attempted to fall asleep. She was so tired, but she couldn't find the sweet release of sleep easily.

The sound of a door opening startled her, Charlie sat upright as a doctor came in. "Sorry to bother you, Your Highness." the young demoness apologized.

"I was sent in to check on you real quick, just to make sure everything is running smoothly." Charlie watched as the doctor sat on a stool, scribbling notes onto her small notepad. The demoness glanced to her, only to scribble harder.

Charlie found the behavior quite odd.

"Have we...have we met bef-" "No, we haven't." Charlie looked away, confused. "Uh...okaaay..." The doctor continued to check the equipment. She fumbled with the wires, forcefully pushing Charlie out of the way to check behind her.

Whoever this was, Charlie certainly did not like her.

"Looks like everything is fine." The demoness muttered. She suddenly pulled an anesthesia mask out of her pocket.

"Wh-" The mask was shoved onto her face, and a whirring noise sounded as the numbing medicine was pumped into her lungs.

Charlie felt her whole body go limp as she was forced to sleep. She could still think, she was still aware of her surroundings.

She did know this demon, she thought to herself. The demon was that officer, the one who had pulled over to tell them about their dead tags. Why was she doing this?

"Uuuh...uuuhh..." Charlie attempted to speak. "Shut up. It'll be over soon."

She heard the sound of metal against metal. "How could you take him? How COULD you?!" the demoness yelled at her. "I did everything he asked, I only slipped up ONCE. ONE. FUCKING. TIME!"

"You don't know what it's like to have nothing. He was my everything, and you took that from me." Charlie willed her body to move, a futile attempt. "Since I can't kill your boyfriend, the Radio Demon, I'll just kill you."

Charlie let out a muffled scream as pain flashed through her chest.
